Power Director friendly blu-ray internal drive
[Post New]
I'm about to buy my first Blu-ray driver for burning my HD projects to Blu-ray, are there any personality clashes between PowerDirector and the various makes? I was looking at possibly a Panasonic or an LG drive from Amazon.

As ever, wise words appreciated.

Angus:

I am using an LG BD drive without any problems whatsoever for burning both SD (initially) and HD videos. I later purchased an LG DVD burner a year later because it was faster at burning SD video to DVDs than the BD burner.

I don't think that you can go wrong with LG burners.

Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Thanks Phil, just what I needed to hear.

Hi,
I own an older lg bd burner and have had no problems, but do not burn at maximum speed of drive as I find that causes jitters/pixelation on the final output.

I opted for the one I fancied when I built my unit. I looked at the spec of the burner, the price, the brand and the popularity. I "googled" for a review ("most popular bluray burner") and read what I wanted. I took with a "pinch of salt" some of the remarks.

I opted for a Pioneer in the end but it could just as easily have been another.

Hi all,

I have an LG burner - no problems at all! I use Verbatim media CD-R, DVD+R, DVD+R DL and BD-R with no problems. And they're not expensive.

Cheers,

I currently have a LG Bluray Burner.

I used to have a Lite-on, it failed to burn Bluray disks after about 2 years of use.

I've had problems with Lite-On as well over the years - I guess you get what you pay for (they're often the cheapest non-generic models you can get). I steer clear of Lite-On the same way I steer clear of any Lexmark printers (bought 3 over the years and all of them had problems), Pinnacle NLE apps (had 3 different versions and all of them crashed on a regular basis - Plus I never liked the idea that any of the good features were an extra $5 here and $10 there...), etc.

LG (burners), Samsung (monitors), Sony (SD Camcorders), Canon (HD camcorders) and Gigabyte (motherboards) have all been good to me, to name a few.

Go with what you trust. Some may be a bit more expensive than their peers, like Sony, but I can't honestly say they weren't worth it.

Thanks very much (everyone). An LG (and a goodly supply of blank disks) is winging its way towards me as I type. Thanks again.
