How to Apply Pixelan’s PowerDirector Plug-ins to a TITLE

Several PowerDirector 12 users have asked us how to do this, so I thought I’d post the tutorial here for everyone’s benefit. This technique applies to our transitions plug-ins for PD 12 -- such as 3D Six-Pack and SpiceMaster. 3D Six-Pack and SpiceMaster have long been very popular for titles by users on other platforms. Being able to organically show/hide a title in your video using (in 3D Six-Pack) our realistic 3D particles, 3D distortions, beautiful 3D turns/rolls, etc. or (in SpiceMaster) any of its hundreds of organic geometries can easily and quickly add a high-end pro touch to your projects.

The problem is that currently the PD12 interface is not very intuitive when applying our plug-ins to a title clip. In fact, on the surface, it looks not possible. Try dragging our plug-in directly onto a title clip, and all you get is a “not possible” icon. Well, it is possible. Here are the simple steps:

1. Drop and drop your title clip into a PowerDirector VIDEO track, such as track 1.
2. From the Transition Room > Pixelan section, drag-and-drop the Pixelan transition plug-in you want for the title (3D Six-Pack, SpiceMaster, or DissolveMaster) onto the head or tail of the title clip in the timeline.
3. Drag the transition icon’s edge left or right to adjust its duration within the clip. Typically, you may have one transition applied at the head of the title (to reveal it) and another at the tail (to erode/hide it), or perhaps one transition that extends for the entire length of the clip. All are creatively possible.
4. NOW move the title clip to the TITLE track. Then click the Pixelan transition embedded in it, then click the Modify button above the timeline, to make further adjustments in its look as desired. Done!

My words above do not do justice to what can be accomplished visually with this technique and our plug-ins. I highly encourage you to take a moment to look over the many examples of what our PowerDirector plug-ins can do for titles on the following pages:

(scroll down to the middle of the page)

We still have introductory pricing and bundle deals going on with our CyberLink PowerDirector plug-ins, although that will not last forever. You can see all of our CyberLink PowerDirector plugins at http://www.pixelan.com/cyberlink-plugins.htm

Thanks for reading! Please let me know if you have questions.

Thanx.
Very Interesting.

Can even fx(creativease) be applied to a title or I must convert it to a image to apply those fx?

thanx again Intel core i7 4770k nvidia GEforce gtx 760 win 7 64bit 16GB ram

Video effects still cannot be applied to a PD12 title directly. But there is no technical reason why this has to be this way. We have put in a request to our friends at CyberLink to improve that as soon as possible.

Our RiseShine plug-in within our CreativEase video effects suite for CyberLink PowerDirector, which is primarily designed for titles, DOES however work directly on any external title source file that includes an alpha channel, such as a title created in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements that holds an alpha channel and is saved as a .png file. Note that currently in PD12 you'll need to set such a title clip's channel to Luminance, and its background cannot become white/light.

For PD12-generated titles, here's the best workaround technique we've seen which works with ANY of our video effects plug-ins and is nicely demonstrated in the youtube video here: http://youtu.be/2ppYghIhLPI

Basically, in an unused part of your timeline, create the title text over a simple color matte background, then:
a) take a snapshot of the title screen,
b) Insert the snapshot in the timeline overlapping part or all of the title's duration,
c) Apply the desired video effect, such as any of ours from CreativEase,
d) Produce/render the segment as a video file,
e) Insert the newly created title clip where desired in the timeline, overlapping your background clip.
f) Apply a chroma key to the title clip.

Let me know if you have questions.
Sincerely,

Michael Feerer

Thanks.
I hope CL improves that soon !

Other thing I've noted is: If i put a 3d sixpack transition over a image with alpha channel or a title clip, some transitions don't works very well.
i.e pagefx transition 1to 4 doesn't make a transition.
and more others, some yes Intel core i7 4770k nvidia GEforce gtx 760 win 7 64bit 16GB ram

Hmmm... that sounds odd. Please email to us ( support@pixelan.com ) an example of your title clip where you see the problem, and a couple of screen images showing the problem, then we can look into it further. Also tell us in that email what build of PD12 you are using and what flavor of Windows you have (and is it 32-bit or 64-bit). Thanks. Sincerely,

Sorry, My Mistake!

Trying More, I've noted that some page peel presets works for opening and some other works for close Transitions.
i.e
a text come in overlayed to image or video file and then go out.
in the in transition I used Pagefx preset 05
in the out I used pagefx preset 01
and all works!
Again, My mistake, sorry
But with this I've learned how to apply it, so Thanks.
Please forgive my bad english.

Greats add ons for PD !

Thanks

Thanks for your reply, so other users know there is not a problem with our plug-ins when used this way. The current PD12 behavior makes certain PageFX or DepthFX preset choices from 3D Six-Pack work at the head and certain ones work at the tail, as you discovered. Fortunately, we offer plenty of presets in each category so this is not really a problem.

Please let me know if you have other questions. Sincerely,
