Hi Guys,

I'm looking at upgrading my video capability for my next dive trip and looking at the Sanyo VPC HD1000. It has mixed reviews from the 'professional' end of the market but most amateurs (like me) seem to think its OK. It has a decent, good value UW housing so won't cost a fortune.

The specs say it records as follows :-
video format: MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec (.MP4 file format)
HD: 1920x1080 (12 Mbps ), 1280x720 (12 Mbps)
SD (MPEG2): 640 x 480 (3 or 6 Mbps), 320x240

but it only does so as follows :-
"it is very important to know that this is 1080i, not 1080p. Its other modes are 720p/60 and 720p/30; it does not do any form of 24fps, nor does the included software include any sort of 3:2 cadence removal"

I'm not fully into HD so :
What does this mean (if anything) for PD7 and eager amateurs like me (apart from having to upgrade my editing hardware etc etc)

Any comments gratefully appreciated.

Cheers

Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. (see below)
