I got a new camcorder and am doing a music video (3 mins). I set the recorder to m4 mode, so i guess it's like 1900 x 720. I'm having issues with rendering while trying to edit, and I only have about 8 tracks loaded and prob 4 or 5 more to insert. I've read a bit on my issues, but looking for advice in case I'm missing anything.
System: Win 7-32 w 4Gb, i5-3570 ivy bridge proc w Z77 mobo, HD6790 video card.
I read it doesn't make any diff on the recorded format, so I don't need to convert from MP4 before editing?
When inserted files start rendering during edit, should I close and reopen the prog to flush the memory?
Is trimming more efficient than splitting into sections?
Any other advice for systems with my limitations? Win 10 I5-3570 16Gb GTX-750

Your files are fine, but the pre-rendering of your files in the timeline is an indication of a graphics driver issue. Could you go to the stickies up top of the forum and provide for us Part A and B?

I noticed when i insert a new track into the timeline, it wants to render it. Closed the prog, reopened and it seemed to work fine, but I've only done it on 2 tracks.

I'm also getting the editing tools disappearing on certain clips but haven't tried disconnecting and reconnecting audio yet.

edit: seems that if I split the audio and video the editing tools appear. Also, if I click Power Tools, I get a cmd screen and the prog crashes. I was also editing and applied a 2d effect to a clip, and the prog locked up, so I opened task manager and closed it. Upon trying to open the prog, it would not open at all until rebooting the computer. On the good side, I rendered an MP4 file at medium settings and it came out fine.
