Recently my Gigabyte 450GTS died and have replaced with GT640. Now my video takes so long to render Cyberlink is unusable.
With old card was working fine. Am not positive this is reason but trust that someone may have an answer.
Thank you
Peter

Yes, thanks for that Carl. There are ten drivers available for the 600 series Nvidia. Tried couple of bit earlier ones and did not work but last or earliest does work but shows blank white screen in Trim and Multi Trim?
I note that this link driver fix is for a Nvidia 400 series and do not think can back up a Nvidia 600 series to 400 series driver?
Have thought of upgrade to 11/12 but concerned have not enough RAM. Maybe the Nvidia 640 will give a bit of a boost to do this. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks Carl

I am not in the area of Texas that got snow and ice. I am in South East Texas, between Lufkin and Beaumont.

It is cold outside, Temperature today has been low of 34 degrees and high of 43 degrees, no rain.

Just to add the drv ver that does not work for 640 is dated 19/11/2013 and ver. 331.82

331.65 has problems also.

I think the latest driver that works OK is 331.58.

OK, have bitten the proverbial bullet and have PD12 running and looks good.
You may have an answer for this one. When saving a project file it will always go to the PD root directory and you have to clik back to where you are storing ones files. How can you point it to a directory you want it to be at.
And also when editing an audio file in Wave Editor how can you save that edited file to a directory as an .wma file or?
My usual practice is open edit audio, edit the file then close Wave Editor and when it asks to save say yes.
Think am missing something here as most of menu is greyed out?
Actually know someone in Texarkana who I think must have an oil well in his backyard. Half your luck as we say.

Of two issues above noted that saving .pds now goes to correct directory. But Wave Editor is same and must close to save.
After starting first DVD with PD12 it crashed before writing to DVD and sent both dump and crash report to Cyberlink.
Not a good start and does not really seem much faster than PD10.
Also when using SmartFit it takes it right up to 4.699GB while PD10 would only use to 4.370 or thereabouts.
It is showing about 3hrs to produce DVD and Folder which is about what PD10 takes for 1 1/2hr video. Yes, that is the way WaveEditor works. You close and WaveEditor sends the edited audio back to Powerdirector.

You can use WaveEditor as a standalone program. You run it on its own, then when you exit, it will ask for a location to save the edited WAV.

You may have an answer for this one. When saving a project file it will always go to the PD root directory and you have to clik back to where you are storing ones files. How can you point it to a directory you want it to be at.

Preferences > File (the gear at top).
Set your Export folder to the folder you are working in.

The first time you Save As the project file, you navigate to the location you want to save the project file (your working folder). After the first save, PD will remember where you saved the Project file.

Do not use Smart Fit. It does bad things to the video in order to get the video to fit on a 4.7 Gb disk.

The correct way is in the create disk module, Click on 2D > DVD, Dropdown set to 8.5 GB.
Then burn to a double layer DVD.

Single layer (4.7GB)= about one hour of video.
Double layer (8.5GB)=about two hours of video.

Don't try more than that on a DVD. If you have more than two hours, you should split the project into smaller chunks (Burn two DVDs).

How long it takes to render a DVD depends on the source material and the speed of your computer.
If the source is HD content, the Create Disk module has to render the HD video to SD Video for the DVD.

DVD is only SD.

With Wave Editor to use as stand alone and edit video sound files one would have to separate Video/Sound in CPD and then save the sound file. Problem is they can only be saved as project files? So how to get a video sound track into Wave Editor as stand alone file?
The close program am quite used to but does always seem a bit odd.
re export/import in preferences have 1TB drive as primary and set this as for both. And say 'O' drive is where I store files and save project to. Will do as your saying.
re Smart Fit, have been using for all my video's and never a problem. May because these are static narration videos and very little movement. Maybe? Most are 1hr 15mins to 1hr 40mins and not over two hrs.
This is uploading .mts direct from camera to CPD, edited and direct to create disc.
Happily even after glitch last night and second attempt writing DVD set to shut down when finished. Up this morning and with great trepidation turned on Comp and folder DVD both successful.
Problem with dual layer DVD's, there too expensive!
Caught a pic on Fox cable of someone skating on the streets somewhere in Texas, did not say where.
Thanks so much

You can right click on a video in the Powerdirector library > Export Audio. The result is a WAV file.

Powerdirector 9 and above can Produce Audio files. You can take a video on the timeline and produce a Audio file. You have a choice of WAV, WMA or MP4 audio.

The cost of Dual Layer DVD pretty much depends on what brand and where you buy them.
Would you pay 40 cents each?

Sure you can pay much more. The above brand has always worked well for me.

I do not know where the skater was, but I would bet in the northern part of Texas, maybe around Dallas or Fort Worth.

Thanks for that Carl, in PD12 it says Extract Audio, DUH.. pretty obvious if one looks.

And did find some DL DVD's at 75cents each which is getting close to a dollar in your money. But they are coming down.

re Nvidia graphics card am using earlier driver 331.58 at runs fine. And of course still get prompted to update at Nvidia to 331.82 and even windows updates suggests the same update which does not work.

Just caught up with the thread updating Beta's on this problem and installing latest as I type. It's going to be a great Christmas and hope this all works out.

Have a wonderful Christmas to all those on forum and the rest who help us poor Newbies out.

God Bless us all
