PowerDVD Mobile for Windows 8 Crashes

Since upgrading my PC from Win8 Pro 64-bit to Win8.1 Pro 64-bit, PowerDVD Mobile Windows 8 app does not start. When I press the PowerDVD Mobile tile from the Start Screen, the app launches (i.e., displays the flip screen animation), but I am returned to the Start Screen. The app is still active, since it remains listed in the Menu Bar (left-hand bar). Only way to close the app is to right-click on the app icon within the Menu Bar and then press Close.

I have uninstalled the PowerDVD Mobile Windows 8 app and ensured that all ProgramData associated with the app was removed. After reinstalling, the app still will not start. I even tried installing the trial version of PowerDVD Mobile for Windows 8---the result was the same.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue?
Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

Windows 8 Professional 64-bit
AMD Phenom II X4 820
8GB RAM PC3-10600
ATI Radeo HD 5570 using Catalyst Display Driver v13.9

Hi Bjq, any progress here so far? What you can do is to check Windows logs at event viewer. This will give you hints to point you out to the right direction.

Control Panel - Administrative tools - Event Viewer. Check under Application or System logs and see if you can find something useful.

I have been unsuccessful in solving the issue. I have attempted a few things such as removing all startup programs and disabling various services, but the problem persists. This is the log of the two (2) errors that occur upon the launch and subsequent crash of PowerDVD Mobile:

I believe that the issue could be solved in one of two ways: (1) perform a clean install (which I REALLY don't want to do) or (2) COMPLETELY uninstall PowerDVD Mobile via PowerShell or script. I am aware of how to uninstall native apps with PowerShell, but no luck with a non-native app. I probably comes down to doing a clean install or Cyberlink developing an uninstall tool. I don't imagine the latter will ever happen.
