Turn clip just a few degrees
[Post New]
I know I asked this before, but can't find the post and forgot how to do it. I want to turn my clip just a few degrees, and can't do that with the cross hairs, it turns too much. How do I just nudge my video a bit? Thanks!

Hi Dustie -

Yes - it's pretty clunky, isn't it! I think about 5º is about the smallest rotation you can make with the crosshairs.

Try this:
1. Select the clip
2. Click on Keyframe button
3. Expand Clip Attributes
4. Under Rotation type in the angle you want (1.0 = 1º clockwise, -1.0 = 1º anticlockwise) - that sets the first keyframe
5. Go to the last keyframe and enter the same value (so it doesn't actually rotate)

In theory, using that method, you should be able to rotate a clip in 1º increments.

Cheers - Tony

Thanks Tony! That worked great! Now if you could just tell me how to keep this tidbit in my mind when I don't use it often.

Write it down somewhere! Or Print the forum and file the Print.

About an hour after I posted that the strangest thing happened. I was looking for something else in "my documents" totally unrelated to Power Director when I accidentally clicked on a file and a document came up that I'd saved last time I had this problem. In it I had copied and pasted the answer I had gotten in this post on how to do it. And I wasn't even looking for that. Oh the power of the mind. It was a spooky moment...

Dustie -

All you need is a filing system that doesn't allow you to forget where things are...
