Shadow files don't generate - program running really slow, lagging

I had been using PD 11 for about half a year now and a few months ago I had the same problem where when I would go into the trim/edit area it would run unbearably slow. (I import AVCHD files). Somehow after a few days it started working properly again. Now the same thing suddenly happened. I couldn't find a solution so I decided to upgrade to 12 but I'm faced with the same issue. The shadow files don't generate, but PD 12 allows trimming to run fairly fast relative to PD 11. However, even just moving clips around in the timeline view is really slow. I read in some review of PD that there is a bug when it comes to the shadow processes but they didn't elaborate. not sure if this is relevant:

"We encountered a bug where applying the Highlight Healing and Shadow processes caused the preview to lapse into slow motion and lose audio sync, most noticeably at high preview resolutions. This was one of numerous bugs we encountered when PowerDirector 11 was first launched. Most of them are now resolved, but this one persists."

I have attached my DxDiag. Please advise. I'm frustrated to no end : /

You have a capable PC, where shadow files may be more of a hindrance than a help. Turn them off, as a test. EDIT|PREFERENCES|GENERAL tab

Are you using build 2209 and editing clips with Dolby Digital?
If yes, the latest patch to 2230 may help. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vadimd:

Welcome to the PD12 Forum. I suspect that part of your problem MIGHT be that your video RAM is very limited: only 32 MB of dedicated video RAM. PD12 recommends 1 GB for more, and the minimum spec is 128 GB. Also, your video driver dates from October 2012. You might want to update directly from the Intel site. Below are the specs for PD12 Deluxe, the least resource-hungry of the PD12 family:

Upgrading your video MIGHT resolve the sluggish response from PD12 that you are experiencing. As Carl is fond of saying, I do not accept any responsibility for the damage that may be caused to your wallet from following my advice.

Hope this helps. Have a great day.
