Help...Design Menu in Create Disc Not Right
[Post New]
Tools all disappeared from my designer window in "create disc" mode. I did find somewhat of a fix. Discovered the Menu Designer window was not displaying any of it's tools unless the window was maximized. I couldn't create a menu as the tools were not showing up. Don't know why I maximized the designer window, but when I did, the most (but not all) the tools appeared.

I still don't have the tabs that allow me to make the preset text (my video, item 1,2, and 3 and preset directional arrows) disappear or the tab that allows me to pick custom icons. I have to drag the text items to the edges of the screen and tuck them off the edges to get them to not show up over my background.

Has anything like this ever happened to anyone out there? Anyone know a fix?

Hi Dustie -

No - can't say that's ever happened here.

Are you modifying an existing menu or creating one from scratch? What happens when you try the other (i.e. modify or create)?

Right now, I can't even offer a suggestion about how to correct it.

Cheers - Tony

P.S. It's best to keep embedded images less than 800px wide or it can mess up the display.

Hi Tony,

I did somewhat fix it by fully opening the design menu window, but I've still lost the tabs (the ones that allow me to choose custom icons, or delete the preset item buttons and arrows. There used to be three tabs to choose from but now there are no tabs at all.

In order to get rid of the title text and the text that that reads item 1, 2, and three and the black and white directional arrows I had to drag them to the edges of the screen and tuck them out of site (a real pain, but it worked). I didn't need them since I had put the text directly on the background video before I even went to create disc. I used to be able to get rid of them by going to the 2nd tab and putting an arrow into a box that said "display only chosen items" or something like that, but that tab, along with the tab with icons to choose to replace the yellow arrow, are not showing up.

So my create disc page is still faulty, but I have found a workaround, at least for this project.

And it happens whether I try to modify an existing menu, or when I click the create button. I get the same faulty window either way.

Thank for the image tip...

Disappearing parts of the main workspace have been reported often. This is usually "corrected" by random clicking and mouse jiggling.

I've never seen it reported within any particular module, like PiP, Title or Menu Designer.

Any possible cause I'd suggest would just be a guess, so I won't. Dustie - have you tried normal maintenance procedures like deleting the temp files in Preferences? Do you have the latest version of QT & your GPU driver installed?

What I'd be doing is a complete uninstall (Revo) & re-install, but others may be able to suggest something less extreme.

Cheers - Tony

Tony,

Yes, drivers are all up to date but I will try deleting temp files..it's been awhile since I did that.

I thought about uninstall and reinstall, but I hate using a reinstall as I'll be needing a new computer in the next year or two and will want to save my install (I think we only get two or three).

I guess I'll keep doing my work arounds and hope the tabs come back on their own in the not too distant future. Dustie

If you've saved/backed up your installer files, there's no limit on how many times you use it! On my PCs every version of PD I've ever used has been uninstalled & re-installed many many times (dozens) using the same installer files.

Cheers - Tony
