PDR12.EXE Has Stopped Working Error [RESOLVED]
[Post New]
I just purchased PD12 Ultimate and attempted to install it. After installing all the files in the order specified I clicked on the PD12 icon and got the error "PDR12.EXE Has Stopped Working".

I restarted my PC and still got the error. So figuring I got a bad download file I uninstalled everything and re-downloaded the files. Installed them again and am STILL getting the error.

Running Windows 8.

Anybody have any suggestions before I open a ticket?

I expect you are correct, but is there a Cyberlink removal tool for v12? Someone will know, each version has a tool you can download to remove the tidbits in an uninstall/reinstall cycle. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.
Tape capture using 6 VCR, TBC-1000, Elite BVP4+, Sony D8 camcorder with TBC.

I've opened a ticket about the issue. They have requested more information which I have submitted to them. I will let you know what the solution is as soon as I get one.

I also submitted a ticket.

I will also try if re-installing the OS helps to fix it since I have a mess in my system setup but what's strange is that everything is working fine except PDR12. I also have my system up-to-date. Same with me. Everything works fine except PD12. Sounds like a corrupted file in the download. Probably nothing major. (Crossing fingers).

Let me know when you hear from them and like I said, I'll do the same.

moisesmcardona,
you two may have vastly different issues that LOOK the same.
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/29701.page
I suggest you both read the stickies and submit PART A and PART B.
Moisesmcardona, you need to start your own question thread with that info included.
Highrise, you should post your A and B here in this thread. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

I have a similar problem. I upgraded from PD 10 to PD 12. I am able to work, edit, and save a project with PD 12 up up until I try to produce a video. At that time, PD 12 shuts down and displays the PDR12.EXE has stopped working error. Here is my part A and B.

Part A: version 12.0.2027.3
Part B: see attached dxdiag file

I have a Win7 -64bit PC. 8 GB RAM, intel i5 CPU @ 2.90 GHz.

I have also submitted a support ticket, waiting for their response. Thank you

RFORD562,
I really wish you had started a new thread all your own. We cannot help multiple people in a single thread, it makes it very difficult, and for future members, it does not help them search for particular answers (should they dare to use the search function). I believe the error is the same as the original poster.

I just reinstalled my PC and it is still not able to start.
I removed the secondary NVidia card to just use the Intel Graphics and it still does not load. What's strange is that the setup went ok and the Director Suite extracted without CRC errors, so I know the installation went good.

The exception given is 0xC0000005 with offset value 0x0000000000018DB7
The listed module is MSVCR90.dll

EDIT: I just noticed that the crash report has listed PowerDirector as version 12.0.2027.0 but when I download the Trial it lists PowerDirector as build 2028. Do you think the version bundled in the Director Suite is corrupt?

EDIT 2: Trial doesn't load as well..

For "Part B" I've attached my DxDiag File. I can't do "Part A" since I can't load PD12.

Just an observation,

I tried loading the software several times and sometimes it draws a little the interface and then crashes.

Attached is the DxDiag.

I've tried everything while I wait for word back from Cyberlink. Uninstalling, system restore, loading it on another PC, Run as Administrator...nothing works, not even a little.

I'm assuming Cyberlink Customer Support doesn't work on Saturdays since I haven't heard back since yesterday afternoon.

You may all have different problems.
Just for fun, every one of you update Quicktime, run a cleaner utility like CCleaner, and defrag.
If you hear anything from support, please let us know.

Can this problem be related to the new Haswell processors? I mean, I tried the same download and even the trial version in the same machine and it fails to load. Main Machine: Jetway NF9G-QM77, Intel i7-3610QM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 3GB, 128gb SSD, Windows 10 Pro

Just curious check the following on your systems:

After you have installed Power Director 12 and try to open it-

Go to your Task Manager and make sure one or both
Rich Video Module (32bit) & Rich Video Modules are running.
They also known as RichVideo & RichVideo64 service and also show up as
Cyberlink RichVideo Service(CRVS) & Cyberlink RichVideo64 Service(CRVS) - which can get confusing, but they just different names of the same two services: a 32 bit and a 64 bit Rich Video.exe

Also go to Msconfig and make sure they have not been disabled for some reason.
