A new forum for a new version of PowerDirector - excellent.

I am tempted by 7, however, since the day I bought 6 I have never had a single technical problem. So, I am scared. Does the download take care of the un-install of 6? Will all my files be transferred? Please let me know if my fears are unfounded!

I upgraded a couple of days ago. All the install/uninstall is automatic and all my video files/projects created in PD6 remained as they were left. Good worthwhile upgrade solved the few glitches I had.

I'd take a backup copy of your media files/projects just for safety though. Mine are always backed up to a second hard drive.

If you have any custom menus you should back them up as well since they won't automatically be transferred to the newer version.
