Hi all,

Looking at a new PC, mainly to satisfy my home-movie making hobby. I've got PD11, my old pc just couldn't manage it, wouldn't write to dvd, took over 3hrs to render a 30 minute avchd movie etc. So I'm looking at this new one....

Hi Jenny,
I just build my own computers as and when I need.

The spec you've given looks reasonable but could be improved upon at additional cost.
Some towers are supplied without a power unit and then you select/purchase your own to insert. Could be improved to 1000W in my view.
You may want to include a BluRay writer instead of a DVD one. You can stick with the DVD, they're really cheap and put in a BluRay later.
I'd look to have a SSD, a good sized one as C drive.... they whip the pants off an internal HDD. Keep the HDD as a storage drive. The data transfer with an SSD is very fast and this'll mean PDR will respond quicker etc.

Just an opinion.

Not familiar with HIS products, but other ATI HD7870 cards have a minimum PSU requirement of 550W. 650W may not give you enough room if you add anything later.

However, the Intel 3770 has the HD4000 GPU so why add another GPU? From what I've read, the HD4000 does fairly well at video rendering. The only reason to add a dedicated card would be for maybe gaming.
