I finished producing a movie made up of still photos, some 1080 25fps Go Pro footage and some Canon HD video footage.

Here is the format I saved it to...

.mp4 1920x1080 Data Rate 18852kbps, Total Bitrate 18981kbps, Frame rate 25fps.

I tried to upload direct to Facebook from the produce page but it failed for some reason. So I just saved it as this format then uploaded it to Facebook. All that worked fine but the quality on Facebook is less than desirable. Very pixelated and generally just poor quality.

Does anyone have a clue as to why this might be the case and secondly if people are having success uploading good quality HD PD videos please share what settings you are using and how you are doing it.

It's very frustrating to have good equipment and go to a lot of trouble to make a good production and then when you share it on Facebook it looks crap!

Hi Alpine310

Here's a link to the FB video file formats

http://www.facebook.com/help/www/154271141375595

I personally use the MPEG4 (MP4 as recommended by FB) 1280x720/25p profile which gives great results in a manageable upload file size which the FB decoders seem to like

I have tried the larger better quality size but FBs pragmatic at the best of times and doesn't always work.

Also, if you use any music watch out for the FB copyright muppets who will ban your production.

A great alternative is to use Vimeo or Youtube and post a link to your FB page.

Happy editing :

Thanks for the quick answer CHF. I read that 720 gave a better result. It certainly loads quicker onto FB.

So, I re did the video in 720 and loaded it to FB and to me it looks exactly the same. I know what you are saying about youtube or vimeo but if you don't want the whole world to see the video then direct onto FB is the only way to go I would have thought.

Bit lost now.

That's odd

Are you viewing your videos in FB on their HD mode?

Mine work fine, so I'm not sure why yours don't. Happing editing

Hi,

I haven't use PD to directly post to FB or Youtube, howere I have put the video on our profile site. We have a photo studio, and I recently got really pissed off by FB "quality", so beware. E.g. FB uses aggresive compression, even something like 80%. I have read tonnes of articles, but they change their policy almost every few months.

As for video, I produce 16:9 wmv, 1280x720, and here you can find a result (well, our first amateur video, using Canon 60D :

This is a question for Vimeo seeing as you mentioned it here on this forum. Has anyone else had problems in the "Produce Online" screen in Power Director? It seems that the Youtube option works just fine but every time I attempt the Vimeo option the program freezes. This is quite frustrating.

Starting a new topic, titled "Vimeo uploads" will bring more responses. There also may be help here...
