Hi,

I have a man on the scene who is moving to the left and to the right site. I want show on my movie only head this men. I can make a round mask.

My question is: how to move the mask while my guy is moving.

Hi januzs -

In PD when you apply a mask in PiP Designer, it masks part of the screen. It's not possible to have the mask move during the clip.

Have a look at this tutorial on creating a censor blur - http://youtu.be/JgzRPcNKFgo

If you use the Focus effect, you could apply the same idea. Screenshot attached showing keyframes.

Cheers - Tony

Does anyone know of an application that allows moving masks? I'm want to be able to pull objects out of video where green screen is not possible. It doesn't need green screen quality edges so tracking the objects with masks would be more than enough.

With what I've found so far I'll have to split the clip every time I want to change the mask.

Did you watch the video for the censor blur that Tony posted?

If that is not what you want; perhaps and example or more of a description might be more helpful.

Edit DJD, to prevent confusion about what you want as opposed to what the original poster wants, please start a new thread with your particulars. Edit your post in this thread to say you are doing so.

This would apply to you too DJD:

There is a Cyberlink product that might help you. It's called ColorDirector. It has a feature called "Motion Tracking". With your input you can select an area in your video clip and then as each frame of your video goes by, it follows the contour of the object as it moves across the screen. You can pause this process and make adjustments to the mask that is being automatically generated. It can be a bit time consuming depending on what is next to your object. The mask can start to bleed away from your selected object, but it can be corrected.

I have had some fairly decent success in using it. So as an example you can take a clip of someone running through a field of flowers and f you select this person as an object and define the perimeter of the person, Motion Tracking will generate a moving mask. As the person moves through your video clip. Then for example, you can then change only the person to Black and White running through Full Color Flowers. It's a pretty cool way to use this feature.

Here is a link to Cyberlinks feature page of Color Director. Scroll down to the Motion Tracking and there is a video example demonstrating its use. It is available separately or as part if the Directors Suite. It is fully integrated with Power Director when you want to use it.

Here is another link showing the use. Select the Motion Tracking Tutorial

Just thought I would mention it as an alternative.

Tony might know the answer to this. I can't remember if you can remove everything else in the video clip and just isolate the head in ColorDirector.

But the workaround would be to make the Motion Tracking mask of the head, and then make everything else in your clip a very different color. Then when you export this modified clip to Power Director, you could then "hopefully more easily" because everything but the head has a more consistent and similar color value, apply the Chromakey effect and eliminate everything but the head.
