I can not find a way to remove the effect (any effect from effect section) that I drop into the clip, unless I undo it right away.

You tried selecting (highlighting) the effect on the timeline, then pressing the DELete key?
Or right-clicking on the effect and clicking on "remove."

This would seem the obvious way, but I tried that several times, it deletes the clip, not the effect.

I just tried this, but there's no check/uncheck box for the effects.

And the strange thing is that when I hover the mouse over the effect, it DOES say 'effect' underneath, in other words it knows I'm over effect, not just the clip, I'm being accurate. but if I right or left click to do anything with it, it does it to the clip itself, not to the effect.

Can you give more details of what is doing and if possible post here a picture of the timeline. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

I don't know how to post pics of timeline, but here's what's happening: there is a video clip (any clip) and after I insert an effect there is an "I" square at the beginning of the clip. if I hover over the "I", it says "effect. old camera" ("old camera" being just a name of that effect for example) ... then if I right click or left click, whatever I do in the menu, it does it to the CLIP of video and not the effect. like if I try to remove it.

rytis,

I hate to ask this question, but did you look at the screen shot attached to my previous post, and then follow the steps.

When you click the button that says "Effect" on the left, just above the time line you should see what is shown on the clip. If you are not seeing what I showed, you may be in the wrong area.

Steps:
1 - Click on the clip that has the effect you want to remove.
2 - When you select the clip, look to the left just above the time line.
3 - Click on the tab that says 'Effect'. this will bring up the window to adjust the properties of the effect.
4 - You should now see what I attacked above in my previous post.
5 - Remove the check mark from the little box to remove the effect.

Hal

edit to add: The little mark will remain on the clip (and show the effect that was there), but the effect is actually removed.

I works here if the effect is dropped onto a separate effect track, and not on the (background) video track. Therein the confusion.^

rytis,

I was informed by a long time member, Carsten, that I was not entirely correct in my posts above.

Clicking the checkmark box only hides the effect. To remove it completely, click on the little minus sign just below the dialogue box in the same screen.

This removes the effect from the clip as evidenced by the removal of the effect sign on the clip.

Right, but I WAS in the wrong section before: there are TWO effects sections, the wrong one further on the left in a vertical bar, and the right one on the horizontal bar below
