New Upload 2717 wrecks PD11

I am using a newly built higher end PC system under Win8 Pro 64 bit to use PD11
Its been running OK on build 2516 , allowing me to learn how to use it more effectively than on my old dual core 2.7Ghz Intel with its max ram limit of 4GB under Win XP, Thus far most of my earlier frustrations with PD11 had been resolved and I actually looked forwards to using it.
Come upgrade 2707 and expected even better things. BUT
On upgrade PD11 comes up as usual with user entry screen and that's about all you can get. Attempts to run any file or project just used or produced minutes earlier under 2516 results in a PD11 error box "Director.exe failed to run" or similar. Even attempting to load a still jpeg or a previously made slideshow faults to this error message. Sometimes you can get a file to appear on the Edit screen , but as soon as you try to bring it to the timeline , same result. PD11 had became totally unusable.
OK: Uninstall everything and start from distribution CD, updating again to 2707
Same results.
Again Uninstall and again install from CD, but this time go to CL website and choose upload 2516, the previous version.
Now EVERYTHING works fine again!!
Now reviewing the Forum to see if anyone else is having issues (I suspect Win8 Pro) shows that indeed at least two users cannot get started under Win8 .
Originally my new system had ONLY PD11 and I/net loaded to remove any possibility of other interfering software if PD played up. It didnt so I have added some minimal additional support stuff, like Imgburner, etc BUT NO ANTIVIRUS and only Win8 Firewall on.
Is anyone else having similar problems under Win 8 Pro ? ( Mine had been upgraded to the latest uSoft revision via the uSoft site)
I cant see how my PC system can be at fault since build 2516 runs fine
(As soon as I figure out how to send xdiag on Win8 I shall send it.

PS: thanks to Dafydd I have received a link to post successfully using the Forum.
For some reason I have NO facility for posting or attaching since using Win8 pro, but occasionally clicking on anything under the message box has allowed me to get in on only one occasion. I still suspect Win8 Pro as being the culprit here
Ive sent an error report to CL, but too early for a reply yet.
In meantime be cautious of installing build 2707 under Win8 Pro 64 bit if you have my hardware which is:
i7 3770K, ASUS P8Z77-VPRO, **8GB Gskill 2500 Trident X ram under XML, 2TB Sata 111 C: Drive, 1TB Sata 3 D: drive
** ATI Radeon 1GB graphics

* Was 16GB (4 x 4GB) until 8Gb failed on install
** was running under HD4000 on 2770K quite well until 8GB of ram failed Now temp ATI/RADEON 1GB 5450 card used until warranty replacement of 16GB gets here from Taiwan

NOTE: All above works well on PD11 under build 2516 with above configuration for MPEG2 DVD and AVI production

Concerned
John

"Working well under Win7"
Yes HDedit, that's what I expected: When I ordered the bits for my new system I asked for Win7 Pro, Not Win8 pro, but they supplied an OEM Win8pro. The writing on the Win8 sealed container envelope is very small and I didn't notice it until I broke the seal and installed it. During install it registered itself with uSoft and now Ime stuck with it .
I knew Win 8 wasn't liked and as most members run Win7 I wanted that version too.
Looks like my predictions have come true
Win8 Pro has some nice features but its not a patch on Win2000 or XP in terms of user throughput efficiency
I am certain if I had got Win7 I would not have this problem with build 2707 with PD11
Thanks for reply

Thanks for the heads up, as I am running Windows 8 Pro. I haven't had any problems since installing the 2707 patch, and I have produced to each format.

The one thing I do before installing programs is turn off the Anti-virus software and create a restore point just in case things go wrong.

Make sure you run Internet Explorer 10 from the Desktop and not in Metro mode. When I ran IE 10 from Metro and tried to post on this forum (this was the only forum I had trouble on), the forum web page would refresh unexpectedly and my typing would be wiped out.

Windows 8 Pro is so much better than XP. I never had Windows 7. Gateway DX4380, AMD A8-5500 Quad Core 3.2GHz with ATI Radeon HD 7560D; 16GB RAM; 1 TB SATA 7200 RPM; Windows 8 Pro 64-bit; PDR11, PDVD12.

Thankfully, no issues here with the 2707 patch, on Win 7 Home Premium (64-bit).

That doesn't help the poor folks who've had PD11 rendered useless. Sorry.

Cheers - Tony

Hi John-hpxref2,
Please provide a full diagnostic file as per Part B in the guide: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/24771.page
I run Win8Pro and don't have any issues with the latest patch. I also run W7 on an older computer and don't have any issues.

I find W8pro fine to use once you get used to the layout etc. One has to adapt!
