Is it possible in PD 11 to split a stereo audio track into two separate mono tracks?

Hi cuartetto ,
You can in WaveEditor by isolating the single tracks from an original and saving them as new files.
1. Open WaveEditor
2. Bring in your file, I used an *.mp3.
3. The display will show two tracks.
4. select single track
5. Move slider to highlight the full length of the track displayed (left or right track)

6. Select Bin icon and delete the track highlighted.
7. Move to the Save icon and save as a new named file. I have chosen to first delete the Left track and then save the Right track.
8. Repeat the procedure, bring in the original audio but select a different single track. In the image below I chose to delete the Right track and save the Left track to a new file name.

Please view images, I hope that helps.

Dafydd,

I hope that I'm not hijacking this thread, but I have the opposite question. How do you take a single mono audio track and duplicate it into 2 stereo tracks?. I have PD 11 Ultra and Wave Editor.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much.

My video is 1080p recorded on a Sony HD camera. Can the stereo audio tracks from this source be separated?

When separating the mp3 file, can a single track be saved as a dual mono? Edit. I figured this out. After deleting the one channel, copy the other channel and paste it into the blank channel.

Have you tried putting the video file into Power Director and then clicking "Edit Audio" and then trying what Dafydd suggested?

Why do you want to use only one side of the stereo track? .

Hi Calsi,
I would consider this to be an item for a new topic and thread. I was keen to have an answer ready for you (having asked you to post a new topic). I see the issue could be dealt with speedily and bordered closely with what had previously been asked.

With a Stereo audio file insitu, I brought in a mono clip and note the popup warning! I think that answers you in a way. There is another method to deal with mono audio conversion but it looks cumbersome compared with:
Open Wave Editor,
Bring in a Stereo file
Bring in a Mono file and it'll be converted,
Save the Mono new Stereo file as a new file/name.

If you have any further questions on Mono to Stereo conversion, please ensure you post as a NEW TOPIC.

Is it possible to select multiple clips and split the audio simultaneously? I have about 100 clips in my video.

For your case I think the best thing to do in PD11, and save the clips as a single file and then make the separation channel audio, in this case try to use SVRT not to convert the video in the second stage. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3
SSD SUV400S37240G / 2-HD WD 1TB
AMD Radeon R9 270 / AOC M2470SWD
Windows 7-64 / PD16 Ultimate
