WaveEditor deletes MP3 details/metadata and changes bit-rate on "save as" export

I want to use WaveEditor (Standard 1.0.1.4006) to do some simple editing on MP3 files. I want to delete leading and trailing silence on songs I have imported into iTunes from CDs and that I have converted from vinyl records using Ion's CD-Direct vinyl turntable and then imported into iTunes.

The original MP3 files have metadata (details) like Title, Contributing Artists, Album, and Track # added to the MP3 during the import/convert process. The original MP3 has a bit rate of 206 kbps.

However, as soon as I edit the MP3 file using WE and do a "save as" track export, the details/metadata disappear and the bit rate reduces to 128 kbps.

See the attached PDF file for before/after affects.

Is there any way with WE to retain the metadata information and insure the bit rate remains the same?

If not, is there another higher-end audio editor that will retain the metadata/bit-rate information?

Thanks,

Sailor Guy

Audacity. You must also install Lame and FFMpeg. Both are on the download page.

Audacity is free, but one of the best audio editors around.
