Hi,

I am using Director version 9 and am curious if anyone has discovered a way to copy & paste type from another source into a plain title without having to re-type it manually? For example a write up of a description for something, especially if foreign letters are involved that are not on my keyboard but that I would want to show in its original version.

I asked this from tech-support, and was told only a few words can be copy and pasted at a time, but nothing seems to happen when I right-click on the title to paste.

So far the only way to add a larger amount of text from another source is if I were to copy it in "Office Publisher" for example and save it as a JPG file which I then can insert instead of a proper title but without any animation as is possible with regular titles. This should be a very simple function and I have it on other editing programs, but somehow Cyberlink is missing this most useful and simple function.

Thanks, Norbert

norbert,

I just did a little test in PD9. I copied your original post and pasted it into a title.

There is no right click as you said, but you can use the CTRL V method. Select the default text in the title and press CTRL + V and the text will paste as expected.

Hi Hal,

You are one smart cookie, it DOES work - I just tried - THANK you!
Why would the "Experts" from Cyberlink not tell me this, perhaps they don't even know what their program is able of?

Thanks again for the prompt reply!
Cheers, Norbert

You are very welcome, and thanks for the update.

Always glad to be of assistance. Great to know it worked for you too.

FYI, the right clickis available in PD11. I did not have a look at PD 10 tonight.

Hal

Added: Right click is not available in PD10

Hal, since you already seem to have vers. 11 I like to ask another question as I been thinking of upgrading to that. The one function I really like is to have good control over the sound volume along any place on the sound track.

But say, did you generally find enough improvements to justify the expense for the upgrade? I don't care so much for too many fancy transitions or title pages but really just want a reliable program to turn many hours of my travel videos into pleasant films.

Thank you, Norbert

Norbert,

The control of the volume along the audio tracks is the same over the versions. You can control the volume with keyframes or by dragging the line in the audio track/clip when selected

See attached screenshot for a more.

Yes Hal, this is what I like about my Version 9 too, but just wanted to check if you experienced any major improvements from Version 9 to 11 to make it worthwhile to upgrade.

Norbert,

There are improvements, but whether they are imortant to you or not is up to you.

You can install the trial version to determine if there is enough to move. I always buy the full version rather than the upgrade, so I am able to have three versions installed. I still use the different versions for different projects.

Most of my work is done in PD11, but if I am having a problem I can go back to an earlier version to see if it will work there.

And I will very likely move up to version 12 when it is released later this year.
