PowerDirector 10 assigns incorrect timing to MP3 files

When I import MP3 files into PowerDirector 10, it assigns an incorrect timing to the file.

For example, the MP3 file might be 3 minutes 26 seconds but when it is imported into PD10 the program says that the file is 3 minute 54 seconds long. While the timing on the screen shows the music is running for 3 min 54 sec, the music runs 28 seconds short on the DVD when it is created.

I resolved the problem by converting the MP3 files to WMA, but if this is an inherent problem why does PD10 permit MP3 files to be imported?

Yes, it is a problem with MP3 audio files since Powerdirector 9, converting to WMA or WAV solves most if not all audio problems.
WAV is the most reliable.

MP3 files do work OK some of the time.

Hi Doug

Some mp3s work, some don't. Sometimes an mp3 will work in one project but not another

It's been hit & miss since PD9 and is still problematic in PD11.

A great free converter is Audacity - just Google it.

It's an awesome piece of audio software
