I was doing some AB testing between Lossless Audio and MP3 and want to hear what is missing so I'd like to subtract the MP3 waveform from the Lossless waveform to see what is left behind. Can this be done in PD11 or can someone recomend a tool?
Thanks

You could use Audacity. I don't know how with PD11, unless you buy some VST plugins perhaps. In Audacity you can import both audio files, I assume stereo, invert one of the file tracks and then play back so you can "hear" deltas as you desired. If silent, it is obviously identical. You could also do some FFT work and identify what frequency range the difference audio is if desired.

I find the detailed controls in PD11 audio editing really lacking, they are good for the novice not familiar with audio and one simply moves a few sliders to try and correct issues. For instance, simple things like you want to filter everything below 60Hz (probably 50Hz for you) in a waveform. Tough to do as you need to use the curser and try to manually select frequency range in the Spectral view but you can't zoom y scale (frequency) enough to select very well. I wish they had keyboard entry areas for lots of things but have not seen that ability so far.

jmone ,

With mp3 you will see and hear differences. It is not a lossless format. Win 10, i7

I'm not sure I'll see any difference, but I just wanted to hear what the difference was at various bit rates. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

With mp3, most download services use 256K bit rates. It's the point where most audio becomes difficult to judge differences with. Win 10, i7
