Need advice: How do I get two clips to play simultaneously?

Hey guys, I am trying something new. I used two cameras to record video at the same time from different angles.

I inserted both videos onto the timeline, Tracks 1 and 2.

I was trying to sync the sound (I had clapped my hands) and when I clicked on play I could hear both sound tracks, out of sync. But no matter which clip or Track I clicked on, it always showed the same video from only one of the tracks. I cannot get it to switch.

The sound track also sounded like an echo chamber, or 'reverb'. I tried to sync them by unlinking and moving the audio tracks but I never got very close. No matter whether I moved one track forward or backward the difference always seemed the same.

So I started over, watched expanded timelines down to the hundredth of a second to know when the 'clap' occurred and then trimmed each video separately.

Now I have the two trimmed video clips on tracks 1 and 2. The sound seems to be only coming from one track, so either I did an amazing job of syncing them, or PD11 is only playing one video AND one audio track.

So I would like to know how I can, when there are two video clips in the timeline, switch them back and forth in the Preview window?

And further:

I want to switch views back and forth. In the past I would have made several small edited clips and then eventually placed them one by one on a timeline. But there must be a better way, right? Why else would there be up to 100 tracks available?

I have looked in the PD11 book and can't find any answers.

Thanks!

Kmot here is what my timeline looks like when I go on a motorcycle ride. I have two GoPros on the motorcycle one looking out front the oher out back. I line them up front camera on track one the back camera on track 2. When I'm edited them I uncheck track 2 and check trackk two. I don't have to mess with the sound any because I mute the sound and put music to the video.

here is a link to that video after produce.

The only way I would know to show them at the same time would be to do a picture and picture.

PD will show the highest number track in front of the other tracks - to see both at the same time - you need to either resize so both are visible or use key frames to change the opacity (given the audio sync I would not split the clips all though you could)
using key frames you can fade from one track to the other - takes a bit of work but looks great

You can do the same with Audio - but if the sound is good and in sync Id uncheck one sound track and just keep one audio track
I can't post an example as I am at work but have done a wedding this way, changing shot between 3 cameras and found using the full tracks enabled me to maintain continuity

Thanks guys!

I came back to report I have figured out what to do. I went through the book again and read about 'enable/disable' in the time line. I also learned through trial and error about the 'Split' function and that is exactly what I was looking to do!
