Judder and pauses show up in the rendered (either using the Produce features to make files, or using the Create Disc feature to make a blu-ray BDMV structure, .m2ts files, set for 1440 x 1080i, 16:9). These judders and pauses are coincident with the clips in the project. In other words, when a new clip comes along in the timeline, there is a pause in the rendered output, and often times a noticeable amount of judder. Both of these effects occur at the start of each new clip, then the stream proceeds satisfactorily. The pause is about 1-s plus-or-minus a little, and highly noticeable.
There is some variation in judder when using the Produce Feature corresponding to whether the output is .m2ts, mp4, or the mpeg-2 mpg formats. Moreover, I tried the AVC format at different bit rats and noticed judder and pausing were in there too.
Input files: HDV, .m2t format captured using HDV split. 1440 x 1080i, anamorphic, 25 Mbps stream rate. (they all play fine on my PS3, sony TV, and on this computer using Nero Showtime. There is no pausing or judder when playing these .m2t files)
I've read that others have suggested combinations of not using HW accelerate, turn off SVRT, etc. I've tried them all--at least I think I have, and the problems remain.
I've installed the recent service pack for PD11 which came out the end of Nov. 2012. Nothing.
Yes my computer is old, 3 GHz P4, hyper-threading, Win XP sp 3, video card is Nvidia GT240 with latest drivers, etc. Looking to build a new one, but not right now. Seems to me this old machine ought to render as well as a new one, but will take longer. That's okay for now.
I'm new to PD. I've been using Pinnacle Studio since version 8, and got to 14 before giving up and going back to 12. The frustration level was pretty high. Studio's workflow for HDV (.m2t) files is too painful to continue. I like PD11, it reads m2t files directly, and looks a lot like Studio, so the learning curve is short, but it needs to properly render a project.
Any suggestions on how to get it to work?
