Horizontal line pixelation
[Post New]
Hi All.

I purchases a used TM900 Panasonic. It shoots in 1080/60p. Video is choppy until converted into a different format. Once converted, video smooths out but there are two thick horizontal lines running in the same location as the video pans left to right or up and down. The lines are near the bottom and about an inch apart and move with the pans.

Would this be the camera's problem or a problem with the 1080/60p do you think?

Hi NightOwl

I would try playing the video straight from the camera via HDMI direct to TV to see if the
problem is in the native recording, and a camera fault.

I discovered if I produce to Mpeg4 then the horizonal lines and the jerkiness are not there, so it must not be the camera. But I need it in .mov and when I try to produce the mpg file to .mov in PD9 it freezes up at 99%.

Any ideas? Dustie

Ok, figured out if I do something to it....trim the ends for instance, then it will publish. It didn't want to publish strait from the mpeg4 without some sort of fiddling around.

Strange fix, but it worked. Seems like a lot of trouble to create a .mov file though. Is the upgrade to a TM900 Panasonic worth it? Sheesh.... Dustie

Hi NightOwl,

Yes the quality of 1080 50/60P is worth it provided your PC can cope.
I also run PD10 and PD11 so now I work in PowerDirector 11, which gives some great results when
producing in 1080 progressive even when fed with 1080 interlaced from a previous panasonic.

Thanks Pat. Guess I'll be upgrading to PD 11 now. I do like the quality of the images...
