"PDR11.exe has stopped working" after updating to AMD Catalyst 12.6

I updated my ATI graphics drivers from AMD Catalyst 12.2 to 12.6 to resolve an issue unrelated to PD11, and now when trying to launch PD11 it displays the "PDR11.txt has stopped working" error. I tried doing a complete uninstall of PD11 and all its components, reboot, and do a clean install of PD11. Tried launching PD11 before and after applying patch 2215 with the same results.

I'm using Windows 7 64-bit, and my graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series. I don't want to roll back the graphic driver changes, so has anyone else experienced this issue and know of a solution?

1. Remove Catalyst 12.6 using the control panel.

2. Download the current version 12.10 (it works - I'm using it).

3. Load Catalyst 12.10 Win 10, i7

Is your graphics card in the Radeon HD 4000 series as well? When I go to http://support.amd.com/US/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx, and click on the link for "Latest AMD Catalyst™ Drivers for Radeon™ HD 4000, HD 3000 and HD 2000 Series" for "64 bit Windows Vista/Windows 7"...the version of Catalyst they list is 12.6.

I'm just concerned that using a newer driver that isn't compatible for an older graphics card will fubar my machine.

I guess uninstalling or rolling back the driver will generate the issue "unrelated to PD11" - yes?

I have no experience with ATI graphics drivers, apart from what I read here... so any advice I gave would be next to useless. Perhaps if you explain what the other issue is, other members may be able to assist further.

Cheers - Tony

For reference - please note that Cyberlink does not include any ATI graphics below the 5000 series of their models as being supported by PD11. Win 10, i7

I am also at Catalyst 12.6 and both PDR11.exe and PDR10.exe stopped working. When you launch the program you get error C0000005. I have a Radeon HD 4800. So let me understand this. Is Cyberlink saying that I am no longer supported when I have been working all along for years now? If so then perhaps it's time to find another vendor.

With that out of the way, how can we determine what is going on? I do not want to revert my Catalyst back to something old and create problems elsewhere. I am beginning to think going to Catalyst 12.6 did trigger this problem.

If you drop money away from the light, do you look for it under the street lamp?

What problems do you expect to see with the older drivers. Remember it worked before with no problems.

Try to be at least a little logical. .

Steve,

You seem to really like going after me. I thought this was a forum where we try to help each other. Did you ever consider that I may have put a new video driver level on to correct a problem in another program? You know damned if you do, damned if you don't.

At any rate, this really isn't helping arguing with each other in a blog.

Artzero, I am curious about something. Were you working okay at Catalyst 12.4. If you go through the README file for 12.6, the Radeon 4800 is no longer listed. That is very odd since the AMD search still guides you to 12.6 when you enter you OS type, etc...

In fact, I am beginning to wonder if ATI has abandoned the 4800 series (and older). The latest Catalyst's do not list them.

Isn't it to be on a system that is getting old? I am right there with you! By the way, I found that if I uninstall 12.6, powerdirector comes up just fine. So now the question is what is the "best" old level to go back to AND does this mean we hit the end of the line with updates for Radeon 4800's.

ArtZero ,

I suggest you read my previous post on ATI drivers :

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/25703.page

In your case you may be best to stay at release 12.60 or earlier. It does work with PD11 - I was using it until just a month or so ago. Note the AVIVO issue in my post. Win 10, i7

This is very strange. If I uninstall Catalyst, PD11 works fine. But, if I install even an older Catalyst (say 12.4) it fails in the same way. Now that makes no sense. I am sure I ran PD11 and PD10 with 12.4 for quite some time.

HDEDIT, I could have swore that 12.60 was working fine with PD11 as well but now it's solid broke just like artzero. You don't get past the splash screen. If I completely uninstall Catalyst it works fine. So clearly it is so sort of interaction with Catalyst or elements installed by Catalyst that is failing. Very mysterious.

rjsqxxx ,

As per my reply on another post of yours, you may be having issues with ATI and Vista combination.

Wait to see if Vista user can confirm your problem. Win 7 is OK right up to the current 12.10 release.

NOTE: Taking a quick look at the ATI web site indicates that release 12.60 is the last one they'll issue for Series 4000 and lower graphics cards. So don't use anything higher. It also indicates that it's a good idea to remove ALL of the ATI app (using control panel) and then reloading release 12.60 found at :

Nailed it! It's the AMD application development SDK. If I uninstall just that one component PD11 works fine. Well with Catalyst 12.2. I am going to try 12.6 again with a custom install that does everything except the SDK.

rjsqxxx ,

Great !

Now you have experienced a bit of ATI's ability to frustrate users when they install "everything" when you select "automatic" install. The problem is that 99 % of their users are gamer geeks - and all of their releases are centered on that. Win 10, i7

Thx alot HDEDIT. I was wondering what is up with Radeon HD 4000 series. I won't go any higher than 12.60.

I just did a custom install of Catalyst 12.60 and omitted the AMD SPP SDK. After doing that PD11 is starting fine. So, there is something in that SDK that interferes with PD11.
