Hi All

When I double click my desktop icon PD11 it opens for a second and then closes down. See attached

I have tried opening as Administrator and from the Start Menu but it still does the same.

PD10 opens fine.

Any help/ideas greatly appreciated

What's changed Neil? Have you recently applied a software, an update, a driver change?

The video is taking "forever" to come in!

Have you uninstall/reinstalled?

Wild guess, but this is usually the symptom when one has a hung PD process, delete all related PD processes with task manager or reboot to remove them.

Mine was similar, I got past the intro logo but the work space page would not even flash. My PD10 and 9 still worked. Even though I had the latest quicktime as usual. I reinstalled quicktime anyway. It solved my problem.

If you reinstall PD11 I would just do a reinstall before I would uninstall and then reinstall... if you have a corrupt dll or program file that is not loading on start up that should put it back. BUT I would try a restore to a couple days back first... unless you have install a lot of stuff in the last couple days.

It is amazing what a restore to two days ago can fix...

Thanks Jeff and Bubba for your suggestions but Dafydd's response got me thinking.

Prior to the problem I was fiddling around with the AMD Radeon Graphics Catalyst Control Center and saw a setting that (I thought) would improve my computer performance from the default Power Saving to High Performance (which incidentally AMD recommend if you're using video/photo software).

Conclusion:

After changing from Power Saving to High Performance PD11 would open momentarily and then close, I have no idea why this happens, I can only conclude that there is a conflict between AMD – HP and PD.

To prevent this from occuring use the default Power Saving option.

Default setting for AMD Radeon Graphics Catalyst Control Center is Power Saving

Changing this setting to High Performance caused PD11 to open momentarily and then close

Thanks for all your help, very much appreciated and happy editing

Hi Bubba

I right click on my desk top to access that area. Maybe I'm 'different' because it's a laptop.

To the best of knowlege my laptop doesn't have two cards.

All the best

This a workaround not a solution. PDR11 don't recognize HD 7XXX chipset. Cyberlink should provide solution for this problem. PDR11 is encoding with Intel's HD4000 low power graphics.

There was just a recent topic on this and the original poster provided a solution. You might want to search for it.

Sorry, I searched for it and I had mis-remembered, The thread was in PowerDVD but it may give you some ideas. The thread is here:
