Another Quality Issue

I'm having very poor quality issues transferring HD video from my Panasonic. The uploaded quality is fine but as soon as it goes on to the timeline, it is degrading, especially things like railings, roof tiles, boat masts etc. which flicker to the point of being unwatchable. I've tried disabling the hardware accelerator. I've tried outputting to DVD in case the preview window is giving a false image, which it isn't (I have it on the best HD quality option). The video is in AVCHD and I've made sure the output is the same with the same 1920 x1080 as the original.

It's not just the DVD quality that's degraded, it's as soon as the clips go on the timeline. Can anyone help? I'm a novice and not very good with technical jargon but am happy to try

Thanks!!!

When you export to DVD, are you creating a DVD, or burning an AVCHD to DVD? DVD quality will be degraded when compared to HD as DVDs are only 480i, not 1080p.

On the timeline it will look like lower quality, even on HQ settings. Again, it is still not HD. Produce a short clip to AVCHD 1080 and save it on your computer somewhere. Watch that video and see how the quality is. Report back and we can work from there. __________________________________

What is your preview level set to?

Some of the preview levels are low resolution.

What you see in the preview is not what you get when you produce the final file.

You would have to view the final file in some other viewer.
