Does anyone know how to products MPEG-4 at 960x540 ?
I assume it needs another profile not included. It is the requirement for a stock submission so I cannot believe I am the first to have this need. I have checked the forums to see if anyone else has made this request - to no avail.
cheers,
Bob

G'day Bob -

Yes - it would be nice if 960x540 was available in the MPEG-4 dropdown options.

To get a 960x540 MPEG-4 profile, you need to do a bit of editing of the Profile.ini - but once you've made the profile it'll be available for you in the future.

1. In the Produce module, select MPEG-4 High Quality (1280x720) & click the + button to make a custom profile
2. Set the bitrate at 6000kbps (which is the minimum allowed)... or whatever bitrate you want
3. Give the profile a name if you like, or remember its label (call it Bob960?)
4. Save your project & close PD (not completely necessary).

Now - go to C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\CyberLink\PowerDirector\10.0 and locate "Profile.ini"

5. Open the .ini file in notepad
6. Locate the custom profile you just made (it'll be the last one)
7. Scan through the text to find "<Video Width>1280<Video Height>720<"
8. Change it to "<Video Width>960<Video Height>540<"
9. Save & close notepad

Now - open your project in PD & go to Produce > MPEG-4 & select your custom profile from the dropdown menu. Bob960?

10. Name your video & hit Start.

The profile you just created will always be available to you in the Custom dropdown.

Attached is the MediaInfo report from a clip produced using the above profile.

Cheers - Tony

Tony, sorry to drag this up, just found it.

Why is 6000 kbps the minimum allowed?

I'm trying to encode a relatively small filesize video and I imagine the newer codes (i.e. H.264) will give better video quality in a smaller filesize. However I have limitations on the size I can upload, hence I would like to encode at, say, 3000 kbps.

Thanks

er - that was PDR10, by the way.

The minimum resolution is dependent on the video resolution selected. In later versions of PDR, that minimum was changed to 3Mbps for 1280x720.

... and - no - I don't know why! embarassed

haha great. And yeah I noticed that it was now 3000 kbps.

Am I correct in assuming that, other things being the same (resolution, bitrate, etc), the quality will be better with MP4 than say AVI?
