I am trying desperately for the last 4 days to get one blasted video done. I'm using PD9 btw. I am trying to cut out commercials and export to MP4AVCHD or MPEG2 but every time i go to convert it only does the audio and no video. it takes 30 mins for a 2 hr job and the end result is a green screen and audio. it plays fine in the preview window so i'm stumped. i did find the the wtv files only has audio in the timeline so i tried the right click covert to DVR-MS then importing the file and i have video and audio in the timeline but still same problems with the outputted file. i even updated my laptop graphic drivers but that didn't help. which i didn't think it would considering i work with HD files from my camcorder and they output just find. and i output them with the same MP4-AVCHD.

This really sucks WMC can't record in a compatible format. I am using a Avermedia AverTV Hybrid Volar Max usb card. anyone know of a better software for recording live TV? or do i need a better editing software? I want to use PD9 since i can cut out the commercials with it. then take the final product and covert it to MP4 H264 with Any Video Converter. since i can't do MP4 H264 with PD9. thanks.

I wish i had help with this. i'm discouraged. other people record stuff straight off tv and edit out commericals and covert to xvid or h264 but yet i can't without problems what gives?

Maybe the video file is good just that the player doesn't have the correct codec. Try playing it using VLC and see if it makes a difference.

It's not the video player. my camcorder videos with the same format work fine. and the exports from the same Power Director profiles. the video player has nothing to do with the fact that the video file only has audio but no video in it. and the file size shows the difference. and so Media Info as well. I thought i had explained it already. I use the Zoom Player with the recommended codecs. I don't like VLC i tried it before. I also discovered that if i check the Dolby5.1 on the output settings on PD that it includes the video in the file but it's badly out of sync. I never had this problem with the dvr-ms files that are SD and analog.
