Please provide answers to the following in your post on this forum.
1. Which operating system do you use, W8, W7, Vista, XP?
2. Which version of PD, See Part A below
3. Which SR number (available in the "About" box of PD and is NOT the CD-Key!)
4. What kind of video source material used (codec / container), extension? We often ask for a 5 to 10 second sample , please provide one as an attachment. Select "Post Reply > Attachments"
5. A detailed step by step description of the problem. See Part D below.
6. What anti-virus solution is installed on your PC?
7. What codec packs installed if any?
8. What other video editing programs are installed - just in case there is a software conflict?
9. What burning software is installed on your PC?
10. What type of blank disk was used, if you have a burning create issue (give the error code if any)?
11. What background processes / programs are running (especially important for problems with the burning) on your system? Ctrl+Alt+Delete will bring up Task manager and it'll list all applications running.
12. Provide the dxdiag log file as an attachment, see [bPart B below. This is essential information and should be provide when you need help from members.
13. Supply a screenshot of the Edit Workspace, full screen image to show us what you're doing and the image also gives us vital data. See Part E & F below.

PART A
PowerDirector Version build
Two methods:
1. Click on the name PowerDirector - top right of the User Interface
2.Open PowerDirector
Select Help > About
Note down the information in the pop up display
The information is used to identify what PowerDirector you are using.

PART B - How To create a Diagnostic File

1. Click START icon
2. In the Search box (XP users click RUN to see this box) type: DXDIAG and press <ENTER>
3. In the window that opens, select the <SAVE ALL INFORMATION> button and save the file somewhere you can find it (like your desktop).
NOTE: save as ****DxDiag.txt, (Replacing the **** with your name - to identify your file when downloaded).
4. If you know you have 64bit Windows, also select the <Run 64BIT DXDIAG> button and save a SECOND file as ****64DxDiag.txt, (again replacing the **** with your name).
5. Use a zip or rar program to package the data (recommended).
6. Return to the forum thread and click <POST REPLY> (not Quick reply) button in the thread.
7. Click the <ATTACHMENTS> button and attach the file(s).
8. Click <SUBMIT>

Windows 8 users.
1. Cursor Bottom right of Desktop Interface.
2. Select Search
2-1. Select Apps
2-2. Type in Search box "DxDiag.exe" and press <ENTER>
2-3. DxDiag.exe should appear, Right click and save shortcut to StartUp/Apps.
2-4. Double click and activate DxDiag.exe to run.
3. In the window that opens, select the <SAVE ALL INFORMATION> button and save the file somewhere you can find it (like your desktop).

The Diagnostic file(s) will be needed by PowerDirector Editors on the forum & CyberLink Technical Support to analyze your PC set up.

PART D
Training to explain a problem in PD

1. Do not get hysterical or tangential.
2. Stay calm and be precise
3. ALWAYS write down every action you do, every click, every selection
4. List the actions in numerical bullet points - just like we have done here. Use the NotPad Text Editor.
5. Make sure your Subject Heading is applicable and logical - avoid the word "help"

A bullet point presentation of information allows the reader to replicate an issue and to precisely understand the situation you face.

PART E
Do you know how to screen capture?
Provide an image of the PD display problem.

Open PD
Look at your keyboard > right hand side > Print Screen/Sys Rq button > press it
Now open up your Image Editor program
Go to Edit > Paste as a new image
OR it could be
File > open new file
Edit > Paste

Save the image as a jpeg/jpg file
Attached the image to a forum posting - maximum size 100kb
Helps identify problems

PART F
Screen capture and annotate with a specialist program
The image can be used to show any problem encountered.
Localise the capture to an area around what you want to describe
Save the files as a jpeg.

There are others around.
Use these screen capture programs at your own risk, we give no support or discussion on any of them here. They do have limitations and PC hardware acceleration settings can inhibit the capture of preview video images.

PART H
DVD (can be used for BluRay and ABCHD testing) write tests for PD - to assess displayed error issues.
Test 1.
Open PD
Place in the Video time-line PD's supplied sample video file* (the .mpg file) - do this 3 times
Go to > Create disc
Accept all default settings
Select > Create to Folder and browse for a location
Untick > Burn to Disc
Click "Burn icon"

Note the results - submit the results on your forum posting.

Test 2.
Open PD
Place in the Video time-line PD's supplied sample video file* (the .mpg file) - do this 3 times
Go to > Create disc
Accept all default settings
Select > Burn to Disc
Blank DVD in drive
Click "Burn icon"

Note the results - submit the results on your forum posting.

*CyberLink provide a video and a number of jpeg files as samples, these can be seen in the Library when the program has been installed.

Tests are used to localise and to check issues - this test checks your DVD writer and the PC

PART I
Post, watch, share a YouTube video on the forum.
1. Get the right address for your video hosted on YouTube.
2. Select the YouTube button (for New Post or Post Reply dialogue display).
3. Add the url and close by selecting the Youtube button again.

Example: A YouTube address should be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y32c0QvXVQE
Note the inclusion of "/watch?v=" and then the ident number for the video.
Applying the correct youtube address results in a watchable video for forum members to select:

Select the YouTube logo in the player control section, to visit the YouTube channel and have a Full Screen display.

PART J
FULL Media Properties.
Download and install one of the free programs. Use either to extract data and provide it to members as a text file attachment. Select "Post Reply", then the "Attachment" button and Place the local addressed file/Browse for the file on your computer.
1. MediaInfo (easy to use) free program http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
Watch out for any unwanted add ons and avoid them.
Mediainfo will allow you to display information in text form simply by drag and dropping the media (video/audio) file into the user interface.
2. G Spot (an alternative) free program http://www.headbands.com/gspot/v26x/index.htm
Not a program I use but does give the same type of information as MediaInfo.
No support is given for either of these 3rd party products. There installation & use is at the user's own risk.

i7 guys please try:
How about trying it again but turning off some process?
1. Type msconfig
2. Select the second tab and click the button "Advance option"
3. Check the process count and select 2
4. Restart the PC and try to burn the same project again.
These instructions are from R&D.
