Problems importing video from new HD camcorder and producing it

Can anyone help me? I have a new Sony HD Handycam that I video my sons football and soccer games on. My handycam records in AVCHD. My first problem is I cannot import the video to PD9 directly from the camera like I used to be able to do with my older camcorder.

The second issue I am having is when it comes to producing the video or trying to burn it directly to a disk. After importing the video to my computer and then importing it from the desktop into the software where I can do what I always do with transitions, music, etc.

When I try to Produce the video - I have tried Mpeg2, Mpeg4, H.???, and something else . . . it will start producing and then just freeze and not continue at different percentages or it will give me an error "Front end graph streaming error". If I try to burn it directly to a disc then it gives me an error so far into it.

My video is on approx. 24 minutes long.

Any suggestions? Do I need to upgrade to PD10? I have used Powerdirector for years with my sons sports videos and have not run into this type of problem.

Hi ouangel -

The problem with importing directly from your AVCHD camera is that you'd need to keep the camera connected to your PC for the entire duration of the project. Transferring the files to your PC, just as you're doing, is the way to go.

Upgrading to PD10 wouldn't make any difference (except that uninstalling & reinstalling might clear some errors).

If I understand you correctly, you're able to import the video files & carry out your editing without a problem. The "Front end graph streaming error" occurs only when you try to produce the video or burn to disc. Yes?

Members would probably need to know more about your system & the video clips before being able to assist. Could you please post (a) a DxDiag report for your PC & (b) MediaInfo report for your video clips
