PDR10 on a Asus Ultrabook with QuickSync 2.0 (HD4000)
[Post New]
I ran a few benchmark scenarios.

Whats weird is if you enable quick-sync it turns off video preview, however it does not prevent you from turning video preview back on.

It does make a significant performance difference, but even with video preview on quicksync 2.0 is smoking fast, even on an ultrabook.

Since embedded videos don't show video notes, here they are:
Two minute sample clip shot from a Nikon D800. 1920x1080P MOV file transcoded to a MP4 1080P file.
Software: Cyberlink PowerDirector 10 Ultra
Asus UX31A 1.7ghz 2-core with Intel HD4000 on-board graphics. Best speed: 40 seconds (3x real-time)
Dell Latitude 6410 2.7ghz 2-core with nvidia. Best speed: 3:50 seconds (about 0.5x real-time)
Desktop Core i7-950 3.07ghz 4-core with Nvidia GT470. Best speed: 1:40 (about 1.2x real-time)

It was one of my best decision (as for PC configuration for video editing is considered) when I took Quick Sync to the job
Your tests only prove it.

Here is a test I done back in April with Intel Quick Sync. I was using a laptop with a i5 2410m Sandy Bridge cpu.
I'm not the best a doing a video like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tw-6JAakGrk&list=UUzDcl9HECTxu2mNPgXJUfeA&index=8&feature=plcp

I read this about the ability of their GPUs to handle more than just gaming graphics. Sounds like it the best to just let the CPU do all the work. But my eyes don't see it.

The HD4000 (Ivy Bridge) uses a new version of Quick Sync which is almost twice as fast as the previous Sandy Bridge (HD3000)

I have not done a pixel level comparison, but the render speed boost is worth any minor quality trade-off.
After all, this is PowerDirector we are talking about, not Sony Vegas.

PDR10 is great, but it is not a high quality encoding engine. It is a good quality one that is fast.

Agree in 99,9999%.

I made a few "pixel level comparison" just before decision to buy Quick Sync "setup".
I cannot see ANY significant difference as for quality is considered.
In my opinion this is because (as you said) PD10 encoder is not best one
