Scrolling Text (subtitles??) in the beginning of scenes

I was trying to add a scrolling/moving text to the beginning of each of my scenes of my movies. So when you go to a chapter via the menu, text shows on the screen (over top the movie) for say 10-15 seconds to describe the scene. I think I figured out that you have to use SUBTITLES for that (again I think). However it seems they are stationary. Is there a way to make them move like you can in other software?
I'm using PD 10 DELUXE.

Thanks,
Gary

You do not want to use Subtitles as in the Subtitle Room.

Instead, use Title, on the Left side of the library, is a icon with a large "T". That is the Title Room.

Scroll down in the list and you will find a Scrolling title template. There are two, both named Ending Credits. You can use for beginning credits also.

Scroll speed is controlled by the duration. To edit the template you put it on the Title Track select it, click Modify.

I will also try this. So this will scroll on top of running video then? That would be great.

Yep!
It sure will, it will scroll on top of a image or a Color board just as well.

I have actually gotten better results by saving the text as an image or transparent PNG and scrolling that in the PiP Designer. I frequently have small graphics in the text, so that makes a difference.

That is scrolling bottom to top. When scrolling side to side I often use Carl's method. __________________________________

Hi Gary

Here's a couple of tutorials on PD.

PDtoots are using PD8 here but the basics are the same. Part 2 contains information about Titles.

Maybe visit their YT Channel, it contains almost everything you need to know about 'How To' in PowerDirector.

Part 2

Hi Gary

That's odd - might have something to do with your browser settings.

Just go to Youtube and search for PDtoots.

On their channel search look for Part 1 or Part 2

Do you have Shockwave or Adobe Flash player installed in your browser?

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If you do not want Google Chrome, uncheck the option.

The flash player is required to play the Youtube embedded players.

You use transitions to animate text?
I have done this and get different effects beyond those of Pip, but moreover can be fast to implement.
In this case the text should be in a range of video.
