Hi,

I was wondering how you remove media info? for example i have a custom mp4 profile and once i encode my video it has "Sony PSP" in the media info, is there some way i can remove this? I tried to find it in the profile.ini file but no luck.

Thanks!

Hello Karaarslan,

You'd be best posting your question in one of the PowerDirector forums. This is PhotoDirector - a bit confusing, I suppose.

I'm a PowerDirector user too. To my knowledge there is no way to remove that information. Sony PSP just happens to be the particular "breed" of MPEG-4 produced in PD... makes it a more adaptable format.

When you look at the profile.ini (where the custom profile information is recorded) at C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\CyberLink\PowerDirector\10.0, it doesn't refer to SONY PSP.

Is there a particular reason you want it removed?

Opps, i thought i posted in the powerdirector forum. Can someone please move it into the right section?

It's not a huge problem or anything but i still do want to remove it, as i will be putting my videos online and it just doesn't seem right having "SONY PSP" in the media info.

Hi Karaarslan ,
Sony PSP is the compression codec used to create the mp4 file you are referring to and the one used in PowerDirector to create mp4 files. The information can not be changed unless you use a different standalone third party encoder which may use a different codec, in which case that info will be displayed in the media info.

I certainly would not worry about the codec's name appearing with the file. I'd be more concerned about the bitrate compression of what I selected and whether it matched the original footage to retain the quality.

ADDED: Knowing the compression codecs is important information for the viewer on a computer. If they cant read the file, they can look up media info, note the compression codec used and attempt to find a suitable reading codec and install it.

Dafydd
