PowerDVD 12 playback issues: MKV, and Analog display

Hi,

Two questions:

1) PD12 recognizes all my other DVD and BD files on my HDD except the MKV files (files I made using MakeMKV). Is there something I should select in Preference?

2) I use a CRT TV as display via RGBHV cable. When I play a BD disc with PD12, a message comes on and tells me my display resolution is not right and won't play. HOWEVER, after I copied the BD disc (using DVDfab) onto my HDD, PD12 plays that. Is there any way to make PD12 play the BD disc directly in my situation? Again, something I can select in Preference?

Any thoughts and comments are appreciated, thx.

Can you please provide more detailed information? what do you mean by "recognize"? It can not playback the files (error message)? or can not add them to the Library?

In order to play back Protected BD you need to use Digitial connection (e.g. HDMI) that supports HDCP.
The BD standard does not allow the playbck of protected material using analogue connection.

Hi Michael,

1) Right. It cannot play back the files because the files cannot be added to the library. PD12's library contains all my other movie files but not the MKV files. There is no error message.

2) Got it, thx.

I'm sorry Michael, I found the MKV files in the MEDIA LIBRARY.
However, when I try to play it, there's no picture, there's only audio.

I've checked all formats under FILE ASSOCIATION including MKV.
But there's still no picture.

I later noticed that even though I've checked all formats under FILE ASSOCIATION, many remained unchecked a second later.
Why is this happening? What can I do to make them stayed checked?

I finally managed to get a picture.

My display card (ATI HD3600) outputs to a projector via HDMI, and a CRT TV via RGBHV. Display option set to CLONE.
Once I turned on the projector, the picture on the CRT TV comes on as well.

Afterwards, even when the projector is turned off, the TV still has a picture.

Problem solved for now, thx.
