Slide show editing

Is there any way to manually manipulate the sequence and format on a slide show.
Using the grid format, the grid is broken into 12 segments. Top row is 1,2,3,4. Middle row is 5,6,7,8. Bottom row is 9,10,11,12.
I would like to say, have a different picture in segments 1,5,9. Then bring up 4,8,12 with different pictures, then bring up a single picture in 2,3,6,7,10,11.

It would be nice to be able to control the sequencing of the grid, the transitions, and the timeing on each segment.

I created a slide show with about 50 random pictures, then using the customise, was able to subsitute pictures for others that had a sequence that I liked. Then produced the slide show. I then brought it back in, and split out some of the slides, then used these in a video where I overlaid video and slides. It somewhat works, but would be nicer to be able to set up the slide show the way I want it in the first place.

The video I created in this fashion is at http://youtu.be/dIC3IOOikMc . Any gurus out there that know an easier way to get this kind of video?

Hi,
Tony, for one, is "in control of" what you can / can not do with a template.
Reading your post I just wonder;
have you tried making a slideshow without a template?
You still can use grids, the transitions etc.
If it is interesting, this was made without any template:

Hi Dick -

If you want to use the Cell template, there are some ways to customise it. Ckeck this toot from about 2:40

Even though you can customise it, you're stuck with the way the template transitions using thew grids. You can just keep remixing till you get close to what you want. Replicating this manually would be a challenge!

I'm not sure if you're aware, but the Cell template will respond to the beat of the music, if you assign audio to the slideshow. That would have worked well in your dance video. An example of that http://youtu.be/Y6Ybaoaaqws

Mixing the slideshow with other video clips, & keeping it synced with the music, would take an extra bit of manipulation.

Manually built slideshows are great too!

Cheers - Tony

Thanks Tony,

I had already figured out most of what you said, but didn't know about the slideshow responding to the music. I may try that and see what it does. I can always remove the music and split up the slides to use wherever I want. I had seen the strawberry slideshow a long time ago. It was very well done and must have taken a lot of work.

I'll just keep playing with it. Maybe use part of the computer generated slideshow and maybe some manual graphics.

I think that cyberlink might want to put the functionality of the computer generated slideshow into a separate product. If it was done right, I certainly would be interested in purchasing it.

BTW. Check my youtube video that I did for a fellow contrywoman of yours. Celia Harris. She does great work, is a talented young lady, and I was enamoured with her figurines. In appreciation of her work, I put up a video of her works on youtube.
It is at http://youtu.be/1Q_rPJFIvwk

Thanks for the replies,

Dick
