Error Making Movies After Catalyst update.

I am running Windows 7 Pro 64 on a ASROCK P55 Extreme board hosting a i5-750 Intel processor with an ATI 4670 video card, 8 GB of memory and 5 TB of hard drives.

PowerDirector10 worked okay before although it tended to crash a bit. You remember to save with this program.

One report listed here says the update didn't cause difficulties, now two suggest it does. I have set my settings similar to the other user, but still get "Error Producing Movie".

You need to be much more specific in explaining your situation. Namely, which version of ATI catalyst are you using ? If search this forum you will find some references to it. Win 10, i7

Thanks,
Sorry about that as I thought I did. Currently running 12.4 had PD10 working under 12.1

I have visited the few threads that searching "Error Making Movie" bring up. One thread the user has no issues, another thread the user rolled his system back.

I am assuming since the only change has been the Catalyst update, that might be the issue. I produced one full HD video, then did the Catalyst update and went to produce another and started getting the error.

Thanks, HDedit, I am so backed up in HD video to produce, rolling back seems to be the only cure especially since there is no response yet from the CL techs. Adventures & Imagery USA

I fell into this same trap. I updated to 12.4, I'm getting the error on producing any HD video format, rolled back to 11.8 (what originally worked), still doesn't work. Restored windows to before the update, still doesn't work, AMD only offers 12.4 on the web-site. AHHHHHH

I need this to work.

Any ideas?

Does this link help :
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/previous/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx

You need to go through your selection process to the 12.4 release >then look to the right hand side > lower grey box> last item >previous drivers

Cheers

AMD don't bring out driver updates as frequent as nVidia and that is the reason why I prefer nVidia over AMD cards.
Again nVidia drivers has so far not given me any problems PC specs :

Ok, who can tell me with an "Accellerated Transponder" is? I unstalled the ADM driver for this (which loads in a DOS window on boot up) and now my PD10 problem is fixed. However, what the heck is this thing and do I actually need it for something else?

Can one of you smart video guru types enlighten me?

Hello,

I have the same problem with Catalyst 12.4. I use the lastest patch (1703) of PowerDirector.
Working like a charm with Catalyst 12.3.

I think an update is needed in PowerDirector10... There are enhancements in OpenCL 12.4 drivers which cause the troubles.

I wrote a ticket to Cyberlink support yesterday.
Waiting for an answer

Regards,
Arnaud.

Video updates for your video cards is a crap shoot. One update will work fine, and the next will crash until you roll back. The the one after that works fine... AMD (ATI) seems the worse... that's why I went from Nvidia to AMD probably. I am a sucker for a challenge.

Hi CubbyHouseFilms,

Indeed i know that switching back to 12.3 works fine

But since 12.4, AMD introduced OpenCL 1.2 so CyberLink PowerDirector 10 GPU encoding will no work anymore with "new" drivers (>= 12.4) if no update is done on PowerDirector.
I saw that AMD has released 12.6 beta drivers. I will try with it to confirm this hypothesis.

Regards,
Arnaud.

Arnaud, did you install the 0.5MB "Profile" beta? I thought that was just a profile for some games?

And, did you install it over Version 12.3 or Version 12.4 driver?
