Dear Friends :

I think I´m going to change my notebook. (Maybe HP Intel i5)

1) The model came with 4GB RAM. Is this ok? or I must buy to 8GB?
2) Is it completely neccesary to have a separated Video Card? (NVidia / ATI / etc) to edit and or produce the video? Or it is just better to reproduce? I ask because the difference is higher than my budget.

Regards from Chile,

Paul

How about telling us what you want to do with the program? Standard Definition, High Definition AVCHD, blu-ray, 3D, etc. What functions in the program do you want to use.

Do you do small slides shows or large, do you make long videos in high definition or short ones with standard definition.

How quickly do you want to get thing done - in an hour or overnight?

You are telling us you want to get a new car but you haven't told us if you want to drive it around town, on a supe rhighway, or on a race track.etc. .

Dear Stevek :

Thanks for your answer questions.

Mostly i will make mid videos (10 min. to 30 min), HD for YouTube/Vimeo and Standard Definition for DVD.

The time is not crucial for me. Today in my actual old PC, my normal videos take 2 - 4 hours. I don´t care.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

pmalbec I have a Dell with a i5 6 gig og ram and it deals with HD video fine. with the i5 Sandy Bridge you can use the Intel Quick Sync. I have a i7 desktop to. But here is a video I made with a flip cam of the i5 laptop rendering a HD video.

Quick Sync—a blanket marketing name for Sandy Bridge’s ability to accelerate decoding and encoding/transcoding. it is build into the cpu. Here is a link about it. they are talking about the ivy 3rd Gen Ivy Bridge now but it in the 2nd Gen Sandy Bridge to http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/quick-sync-video/quick-sync-video-general.html.

I will say that if you are going to do a lot of video editing and producing I would get a i7 desktop. But a i5 laptop with a big hard drive will work and 6 or 8 GB of ram.

Sort of like "CUDA" or "Stream" function in many video cards?

Dear friends :

Finally I changed my laptop.

I got an HP i5, 8GB Ram, W7 HomePro, Video Intel integrated.

And the difference is incredible. The rendering is faster than i imagined.

Thanks Paul Malbec L.
