I use PD10 to edit 1920x1080 50P files and it handles them fine.
While the timeline only displays 25fps, the produced files are 50fps
progressive provided the correct profile is selected for rendering.

This can be confirmed by single frame stepping in Splash Lite Media
Player(free), and and also confirmed by MediaInfo.(free).

I would ASSUME that 720P 50fps will be handled in a similar fashion!!!

I am not sure why you would want to produce at 25fps however!

The reason I'll be exporting the video's in 25fps is that I want to upload these videos to Vimeo and 25fps is the recommended setting for Vimeo. And I just shoot in 50fps so I don't get bumpy slomo's, or do you think exporting in 50fps will be a big improvement?

I once mentioned earlier a problem I'd had producing from 50fps progressive edited video clips. The problem was on transitions. The produced video had a few frozen frames following some of the transititions (fade).

I haven't had much time to experiment but I tried producing just a 10-sec clip with one transition using different production settings to see if there's a setting that works. It seemed to me that even using the same setting I produced different size files with each production, and I didn't find a solution.

I don't think that PowerDirector handles 50fps progressive input videos correctly under all circumstances. I assume it's because 50fps progressive is not actually originally a standardized format and it's only recorded by some cameras for better results.

I tried to convert some of the 50fps progressive clips to 25fps interlaced, which is a standardized format, and PowerDirector had no problem producing the same footage with the same transitions correctly.

I'd like to also try to see if produced 50fps progressive video from input 50fps progressive really keeps the original footage quality and all the frames. It should presumably be true if using this Smart Video Rendering Technology.

It was a kind of coincidence I encountered the above described problem as I don't usually use any transitions. I think that without the transitions there would be no such issues but I suppose that some effects could also cause trouble as well.

Sorry my post is not very consistent but I thought some of the information could be informative or inspirative to someone...

Here is one of my hanggliding videos shot at 50fps in GoPro HD2. I then edited one section to slow motion. I slowed down the section to 20% and produced the video to 25fps. No transitions just straight cuts.

The slow motion section starts around 1 min 5 seconds.

Looks pretty cool, but the slomo is a little bit bumpy.
Did some tests with the Twixtor plugin in Adobe Premiere, and that will give you superclean superslomo's like they use in the GoPro promovideos (at around 6% speed). Though it takes a long time rendering in Premiere with my laptop so I'm just gonna use it for the superslomos and then import those in Powerdirector which I also use for the normal slomo's around 50%..

The original and youtube slow mo sections of the video are silky smooth on my machine, which is fairly powerful. If it is bumpy on yours it may be your computers power. I will say though I would like it if Cyberlink gave us 6% slow mo.


The only thing I have found with super slow footage of very fast moving subjects, if you don't shoot around 120-240fps the image jumps because there is no data between frames at say 50 or 60fps. My youtube channel====> http://www.youtube.com/user/relate2?feature=mhsn
