Shalom All:

We are having hard time getting the green screen to display correctly, I am not sure what is wrong, but I put a short 6MB video here:

http://www.ahavatammi.com/videos/3pt%20test_0.mov

see if you can make it work somehow, if you need the source 6mb video, just sent me an email, and I will gladly email you the source video. We did everything by "the book" according to our Tech. director, and yet it is still not working.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Rabbi Shapira

Thats my results with the settings below.
I've never tried greenscreen in PD, so I was curious to test it out.

You have to use the water-dropper to select the green color.
Also, background goes up upper track
Your video goes on lower track.
Select your track and hit modify
Enable chroma key

It's a little disappointing that there does not seem to be a blend setting, resulting in very hard aliased edges.

After removing the green screen background the overlay video image has a glittering edge. How do I fix this?
[Post New]
I did not notice any feathering option in the masking, which kind of sucks IMHO.
You'll need to use some blurring across the whole image, which is going to reduce the effective resolution.

If you gotten to the step of using the eye dropper, there are some adjustments you can make to "tolerance of intensity" and/or "tolerance of hue"...adjusting those settings may get rid of the glittering edge. I play with those settings, in particular "tolerance of intensity" to get rid of unwanted greenish hue around the image. JoeVideo

Helpful information. Thank you. I have played with the intensities and blur, but still not completely heard edges. The video noise adjustment fixes the edges, but video is not smooth. The aspects of the background and chromakey videos are the same and the green screen is good.

Is it possible that some of the problem is caused by my computer's capabilities and will not be visible when burned to a disc?

Are you trying to make people think you are actually on-site so that they cannot tell it is a green screen?

I don't think powerdirector is going to do that for you, plus you'll need to reproduce the background lighting on the stage to align white balance / shadows etc.

Post a sample of your latest green-screen test with better lighting for the actor and the green screen.

PowerDirector is totally capable of green-screen/blue-screen/any-screen video.
It's all about lighting, even lighting, no wrinkles, no wrinkles, even lighting, decent camera, no wrinkles, even (not nuclear) lighting, no wrinkles. Get it?
The link you (zackshapira12) show is incomplete. Post your final video with the screen replaced. As of now, I cannot see anything wrong.

The melting woman has a green hue and is aliased.
Perhaps if the background image had a lot of green in it, the green hue would look more natural. To get rid of the aliasing you would need to feather the mask, or blur the entire image.

I do not see a green hue in my video, I do not see any aliasing. It is a low-res test that I did and I still am not sure of what the green-screen issue is in the 1st place. Unless the screen is replaced by a chosen backdrop this is just talk.

Low-res, 30 seconds to throw together, add a "melt" special effect, then stop the video and do a screen-grab. You want perfection?
I still cannot judge the video in question till Shotaw13 actually replaces the background with what they want.
My point still stands, PowerDirector is totally capable of producing a perfect green/blue screen effect, if given a good file to work with.

I think the results are fine, but the original poster seems to want it to stand up to forensics.

I see shotaw13 has a wrinkly screen, and I suspect that may be an issue. Storing a green-screen wrinkle-free is not taken lightly! If I really need it in tip-top condition, I'll take it out, sun it, recite a little Tennison to make it relax...
Anyway, PD is good-to-go, it's all in what you give it. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

If the screen is too bright, and the subject is too close to the screen, the screen itself will cast diffuse green light onto the subject which would be very difficult to deal with. This is also true if the subject is not in perfect focus.

Hi All

Further to what Barry has said - the green screen must be shadow and wrinkle free.

Lighting is also critical with a key light and overhead/backlight. No wrinkles and no shadow. See first video post on 'How to do this'.

Here's a very short clip to highlight that PowerDierctor10 can perform green screen / chroma key.

Note this was my FIRST attempt using inadequate lightning and a green bedroom wall!

However, it does give the impression that I was outside in front of a motorbike trailer in the countryside not a photograph I took a few days before.

Can anyone join this Chroma Fest?
(Old PD8 contest bit > Pre-keyed stock footage > PD’s chroma key tool)

Having seen other editing apps’ chroma key tools, I still maintain that PD’s chroma keying capabilities is perhaps PD’s weakest link in the Editing module. Hopefully Cyberlink will consider providing a more flexible tool with multiple adjustment options, in future releases. Just my opinion.
