I've used various pieces of software for A/V presentations over some years. Microsoft PowerPoint (which destroys images!) was running in my blood for a while, in a different life. A few years ago I started editing video with CL's PowerDirector, which I'm enjoying.
Using PhotoDirector, I set myself the small challenge of preparing images for a slideshow to (kind of) replicate the way presentation software works. When the software deals with separate images only, you have to think about preparation quite differently. Each image & variation has to be made separately.

I'm not suggesting for a moment that PhD is an efficient way of building a presentation. I'm just saying it's possible.
