PowerDirect 10 keeps crashing my PC, when I try to burn a DVD

Hello,

I've got an HP Pavillion xg8 with an AMD x4 2.9GHz (Quad core) processor, running Windows 7 Home Premium (32-bit) and 4MB of RAM.

Everytime I try to burn a DVD, whether it's on a 4.7GB or 8.5GB disk, my PC always crashes mid-way through the burn cycle.

I've made sure nothing else is running, but it still crashes.

I've verified the screen saver is/was shut-off, but it still crashes.

I've checked all hardware settings, Video RAM, even Video Shadowing settings. All are up to spec, but my PC still crashes mid-way through the burn cycle.

My activated and registered PD10 software has the latest updates (1129b), so that can't be the issue...

I'm at a loss guys. Has anyone else experienced this annoying crash at mid-burn?

Thanks so much.

Hi Aina,
Video Editing is a resource hungry software and will stress your PC and find any hardware failings within it.

Please could you provide a Diagnostic file and a screenshot of the Edit Workspace (full screen)? See guide for details.

Please tick both Create to folder and Burn to Disc - this will split the disc burn functions and lessen the strain on your PC - might work.

Part B = Diagnostic
Part E&F = screenshot

Thanks for the reply Dafydd. I really appreciate it.

You know what... right after having submitted my post, I searched thru this forum for possible related issues and/or resolutions and found my experience was not unique. Fortunately others have experienced it as well, and were kind enough to have posted their resolutions.

Following in the lead of what all I've read, I went ahead and performed a stress test on my system. Sure nuff, it appears that my system board was shipped to me with an unecessary Over Clock setting , and when streesed, the quad-core proc produced different calculation values/results than what was expected by the system board...resulting in catastophic failure that it could not recover from.

I disabled the Over Clock and re-ran the stress test, continuously, over night, and I woke to see it was still running .

I tried to burn the project that had constantly been crashing and to my delight... a successful DVD was produced.

Thanks everyone, for the posts. I should have read them first, before submitting my inquiry.

Make it a great day,
Aina

Just Purchased PowerDirect 10 and can't download the 3 Files, they will stop after a few minutes.

I sent a support request and it is useless, they replied the day after with an automated list of solutions that don't work.

I have No Firewall, My IE9 is set to accept scripting, and also allowed to download Incripted files.

Not only that but I just tried with my Laptop, also Win7 IE9 and No luck..!

Please HELP...! I need to Install this Software URGENTLY..!

Hi Betof98 -

If you want help with a download issue, you should post a separate topic. That way people will take notice. This thread is about crashing & burning!

Cheers - Tony
