Capturing from JVC GZ/MG 575 with PD 6

I am having a problem capturing in PD 6 with my JVC GZ/MG 575. For some unknown reason, the HDV Camcorder button does not show up, even though the camcorder is connected via the usb port. Can anyone help with this please?

Thanks for the PM.
What version of PowerDirector do you have?
Open PD > Help > About
note the version build number in the pop-up display.

Can you supply a screenshot?

JVC GZ/MG 575. I'm not familiar with the camera - and I'm looking up the spec off the net here.

As it's a Hard Drive camera you should be able to access the Hard Drive and use Click and Drag (Cut and paste) the files onto you PC's hard drive. Have you tried that method?

Memory / storage
Supported Flash Memory: MultiMediaCard, SD Memory Card, SDHC Memory Card
Hard Drive: Hard disc drive - built-in - 40 GB

I'll ask RD if there is a known issue.

Hi Ian,

It is as I mentioned a Hard Drive camera with a USB connection.

You don't use the "Capture" option in PD6. Go and locate the "new hard drive" on your computer and extract the video and place them onto a PC's hard drive.

Open PD6/Media Library and bring the video file into the video editing program.

It would be great to know what the result is Ian.

I also use a hard-disk based camera. I simply plug the disk into my card reader (it's actualy just a type II CF card, but JVC call it a MicroDrive), and it's then available to PD6 as drive D,E,F etc
