I was unable to test my GoPro clips using the trial version, but reading other user comments left me discouraged. I have now had time to play with the clips with the full version installed. So far I find good compatibility in the limited testing that I have done. I will be doing more extensive testing after I beef up my computer.

GoPro Camera & SVRT: 2D clips straight from the camera with no processing

- Import video into PowerDirector 10
- Place the clip in the time line
- Click on the 'Produce' tab
- Click on the 'Intelligent SVRT' button
- PowerDirector will recommend a custom profile
- Type a name for the profile and click on 'Apply'
- PowerDirector should now show that SVRT is enabled for the video

GoPro CineForm Studio: 3D clips from GoPro camera and processed in CineForm Studio (free version from GoPro)

PowerDirector initially told me that there is no 3D content. Following these steps solved the problem.
CineForm Studio produces a MP4 clip with different specifications than the GoPro camera. Setting the video to use my custom profile I created for the GoPro clips tells me that SVRT is enabled, but I have not tested it to see if it actually speeds the production process.

- Export the clip from CineForm Studio as a side-by-side video.
- Import the clip into PowerDirector
- Right-click on the clip in the library
- Choose 'Set 3D Source Format'
- Choose 'Side by side format' and click the 'Ok' button
- The clip should now be recognized as 3D
- Under the preview window, click on the '3D' icon to set the preview to 3D.

If you export an anaglyph clip from CineForm Studio, then I recommend working in PowerDirector as 2D. Otherwise PowerDirector will change the color saturation for red, blue and green, leaving ghosting in the final produced video.

The 3D capability is nice, but if the SVRT works, that one feature would be worth the price of upgrade to me. I hope this helps. __________________________________

Hi Jamie,

I have 180 videos on youtube, most of them using my GoPro HD. The best tip I can give you for GoPro footage is to use "Video Enhancement" to 1/4-1/2 slider. The native footage from the GoPro is a bit washed out doing the "video enhancement" really helps the video pop.

Cheers

Thanks Michael, I also liked your bike ride, the only problem was you were riding on the wrong side of the road.

There is nothing better than a 170 degree wide angle lens to take in the atmosphere of a bike ride or hang glider flight. My youtube channel====> http://www.youtube.com/user/relate2?feature=mhsn

My GoPro clips have always worked in PD, but PD10 seems to make them work better. Every week from March through October I combine video from 3 cameras to make over an hour of produced video. This year I am planning to add two more cameras. Having SVRT available for GoPro clips would save me a great deal of time. __________________________________
