Hi, is it possible to use chroma key in 2D and 3D text in power director 10. i can't find it. I want to make some 'see through' text on a colour board as intro to a movie. Preferably in 3D. thanks

Hi Thomas -

The short answer is NO - you can't do what you want in PD's Title Designer. There is no chroma key function in Title Designer.

You can (with 2D or 3D titles):
1. Design your title and put in on the required background... keep the colour formatting simple and make sure there's good contrast between the text & the background!
2. Produce the title by itself to your preferred video format.
3. Insert the produced file in your project (with another clip or image behind it) and apply chroma key to the font face colour.

Using the above process, I turned this

... into this...

You're right - I didn't put too much thought into the colour choices! Attached is a short clip showing the original title & the chroma keyed one.

Cheers - Tony

WOW Tony. stars and flashing lights! and in such a short time. Would you mind to tell me which effect you used to get the jumping text [ i tried to re-create what you did and couldn't get any to do the jumping. Thought the icicles might be it but didn't do what yours did ] and how you made the stars and flashing lights?......................regards, tom

Sorry to disappoint you Thomas -

There's nothing clever about what I did.

The clip behind the produced title, with the stars, was lifted from a website. Can't remember which - probably one of these

In the timeline, it looked like this...

EDIT: OOPS! Forgot to answer your question. In 3D titles, I used 3D Slide Left I (starting) & 3D Swing III (ending).
