Whats the best way to capture the a computer screen in action.

In other words, If Im making a demo video for some software, and I want to be able to record the movement of my mouse, the things it type, etc...how do I do that?

Windows Media Encoder has a module that captures quite nicely. Koyote (free) and Ashampoo (very cheap).
I am surprised Cyberlink has not added screen capture to their list of programs, I would like that. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.

Hi jeff,

There are many free Screen capture programs, if you Goggle search you will find many available.
A lot of members use Microsoft Expression Encoder 4, there is a free version available but obviously some functions are only available in the paid for version.
You should be able to find something suitable for your system

The media expressions has a learning curve, but using the free version it outputs as wmv......

Got your money ready? YouCam 5 under presentations select 'Desktop Capture' you can then select a set area, follow the mouse or full screen, you can set up a hot key to start and stop.

So you off to buy it now? I should get a commission from CL

I downloaded the trial, played with it then got the Ver 5 delux version on sale right now for 35 bucks.... very easy to use.... don't need or will use ay of the web cam stuff in it........

It does not have near the options as the "other" screen capture but for quick and simple..... ok.
