PowerDVD 11 sends picture with crosstalk when playing Bluray

Hello everyone.

I have this problem when playing 3D Bluray movies with powerdvd.

For the record, I have an LG LW650 http://www.digitalversus.com/tv-television/lg-47lw650s-p10766/test.html
which uses passive 3d technology. It displays a crystal clear image when playing 3d movies, which are encoded SbS or TaB, with other media players. I even tried encoding some movies in checkerboard and they played crystal clear too. Virtually no crosstalk.

However, every 3D bluray disc I've tried playing with powerdvd11 has crosstalk. The picture seemed strange right away when I turned on 3D. I set powerdvd to output the picture in checkerboard, and set the 3D setting on my tv to checkerboard. Swap left/right picture doesn't solve the problem, neither does left/right position (similar to 3D depth, but not the same).
So after turning 3D on, I clicked an option in my tv's 3dmenu that only takes one picture (usually left) from the input picture and displays it like it's the only one. In a TaB encoded movie, that'll display the top picture across the whole screen, fullscreen, as if it's a normal non-3d movie.

So I did the same with a picture sent in checkerboard from powerdvd, tv 3d mode set to checkerboard and only took the left picture. This is what I saw

mind you, this should be one clear picture. see the crosstalk?

so next I set powerdvd to output the picture in red/cyan, turned any 3d options on my tv off and took a picture again

I only circled one of the problems, but you see that it isn't the whole wing that is present, but only the color of the wing. So that isn't one of the intended pictures, neither left or right. It's crosstalk.

What should I do here? Is there an option for powerdvd to output picture in TaB? Should I get another product that will fix this issue? I just have a lot of 3D movies at home and I can't watch any of them in 3D...

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi,

please check the [ur=http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/16915.page]PowerDVD 11 must have read thread[/url]

I need more info to provide you some hints.

I had the chance to test this TV some months ago and it worked without problems using HDMI 1.4 as far as I remember.

Hi,

not 100% sure but your VGA is not the best for BD-3D and is not HDMI 1.3 compatible

So if I try playing the movie on another computer with an AMD HD6950, it should work?

I'll try and report back. Thanks a lot for the info.

Hello,

I have exactly the same phenomena (crosstalk very high level)
Blu ray tested : monsters vs aliens 3D / Samy 3D / Tron 3D
MKV tested : Haribo

LG 55LW4500 (hdmi 1 in " computer mode") firmware 4.60.27

Xtreamer ultra with windows 7 ultimate 32 bits

Nvidia driver 290.53 beta (same with 285)

cyberlink advisor indicates all points "passed".

The LG 55lw4500 works fine with standard bluray player(not computer).

I think it is an powerdvd or Nvidia issue.

Does anyone have some idea or information?
Best regards.

So I tried playing the movie again on a different computer, with the AMD HD6950, using an hdmi cable. the autodetect in the program failed again, this time suggesting I use a 120Hz mode.

Crosstalk issue was not resolved, it was the same as when I used the nvidia card.

There's another program, called TotalMedia Theatre 5. I'll try that and report my findings.

EDIT: So I downloaded totalmedia theatre 5 trial and the bluray ran without crosstalk. There is a resolution error, where it switches to something like 720p when I play the movie, but at least the crosstalk is completely gone. Now all I have to do is figure out how to fix that error.

Marvos,

You talk about 720P, is it due to native resolution of the media or total media change the format ?.

I hope use the maximum capabilities of my LG 3D passive screen (1920x540 for each picture (right and left eye))
I will also try Total media theatre this evening and I will check if my issue will be fixed.

Did you install just the trial version ?, did you update with latest patch?

I downloaded the latest version from the site. I'll try looking for a patch.

As for the resolution of the media being played, it is a 3D bluray. I too, like you, want to use my TV to it's fullest.

So when TMT 5 lowered the resolution, it displayed the movie in a lower resolution as well. It changes the desktop resolution, and if I try and set it back to 1080p, the movie window of the TMT 5 will disappear.

Probably our issue is a mix between Blu ray software players and graphic card drivers.

I heard some issue due to EDID, did you explore that?

I tried to modified NV_disp.inf without success. I don't know if it is a good way...
But I remark we don't have .INF file from LG to manage TV with a PC. Probably it is just an issue of recognition of TV by graphic card..!!!!

I'm really dissapointed about that , because , Passive Technology(LG) exists since April 2011(we are in 2012), and we can't play 3D BR normally.

Fortunately, I didn't buy Powerdvd and Total media for the moment, I'm waiting with trial version to see.

I have the same crosstalk with total theater ( i didn't test with windvd) , I think issue is due to graphic card driver...or mix between payer and driver.....or why not screen firmware...

Hello,

Some great news...!!!

Powerdvd works fine now, in fact I installed Nvidia 3DTV play(I forgot it!!) and I selected hdmi 1.4 1080p 24Hz in powerdvd 3d settings.

Magic!! the TV LG 55LW4500 displayed 3D menu activation automatically when I started the movie.

3D movies are excellent!!

To summarize my configuration:

Xtreamer Ultra (atom 550 + Nvidia ION2)
TV LG 55LW4500 with HDMI 1.4 cable (HDMI input label "Blu ray" and Trumotion "disable")
Nvidia driver 285.62
Nvidia 3DTV play
Powerdvd 11 + update 2408

Best regards.
