Hi

I'm looking for a certain editing effect that I want to use in a video, but either I don't know where to look, what to do or Powerdirector 9 hasn't got the feature. I don't know what it is called, at first I thought it was PIP, but it's not. The effect I'm looking for is when you have 2 video shots sort of overlapping each other in a scene. To give you an example, please look at the following youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PwP3spePh0&feature=related). The effect I'm referring to shows up throughout the video. I would really appreciate your assistance.

Thank you in advance!

Kind regards
Franja

Franja,

What you want, if I am correct, can be done. But, it is not a simple effect that can be added to a clip.

The effect that you are attempting is created using multiple PIP/video tracks with the overlaying tracks using varying degrees of transparency and motion paths.

I did a quick and dirty short video that shows what I think you are looking for. Remember that I did no edits nor did I try to emulate the effect exactly. Just a demo to show what I think you are looking for.

Hi Franja,

Try using 2 (or more) videotracks and adjust the size(s) of them in the preview window.
Use the gridlines if needed (click little box under the preview window and choose grids).

Don't know if this can add something to your quest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBXcLFocQ1A&feature=youtube_gdata - it might.
Whether using pip option, which you modify mainly in Modify window-
or using 2 (or more) tracks and adjusting in preview window- you should get there!
