simple one page dvd menus
[Post New]
is there or can you make a simple one page menu for power director 10.
most of the dvds i make are for one or maybe two videos. the multitued of pages in the dvd menus just make it very confusing to the people i give them to, i.e. family and friends.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
i Know i'm new to power director but it doesn't seem very intuitive. i am beginning to wish i stuck with corals video studio.

So can someone please help, it seems a good editor but i am finding it tuff. Don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today.
if you like doing it today you can do it again tomorrow,

The PowerDirector Menu system is not an easy one to understand.

First point, you can not have a one page menu in Powerdirector, Second point, all menus in Powerdirector have motion thumbnails.

The first Page of the Menu always has a Play item, and a Scenes Item if more that one chapter or Title.
The Scenes Page can be Chapters or Titles. The difference is how you create the Menu. Chapters if you have chapters in the movie on the time line. Titles if you add more than one movie on the Content Tab of Create Disk.

You can have "NO MENU", in which case the video or movie begins playing as soon as the disk is inserted in the player.
That option the movie will repeat until you remove the disk from the player.

thank you for the replay Carl312

I guess the simplest thing are often the most difficult get. I assumed because it's simple that it would be possible.

can you import DVD menus from other software? or is it simpler to get another DVD writing software? Don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today.

G'day fungus -

Given that PD cannot provide what you want, the best thing to do is edit your video & produce it in PD... then take your produced file to a disc authoring software that works for you!

PD can't import menus from other software, to my knowledge. I'd imagine they'd be in different formats incompatible with PD.

Cheers - Tony

I found this post because I was having the same complaint as the OP. I bought Power Director a few weeks ago after using Pinnacle Studio for years. I am (or was) extremely pleased and impressed by PD as I prepared my first project. When it came time to prepare the DVD menu though, I could not believe how frustrating it was. I find the PD menu system to be inexplicably bad. It's like having a great meal only to get some dry cookie crumbs for dessert.

All I wanted was a one page menu with nothing that says "My Videos" on it and no navigation buttons either. I wanted chapters in my movie, but I don't want the chapters showing up on the menu. Anyhow, it was absurdly frustrating to create a SIMPLE menu.

What I did to finally solve the issue is I dragged all the junk (navigation buttons, the "My Videos" title, etc.) off screen. They're still there technically, but invisible when the DVD menu opens. I put in my own background, disabled the root menu option, and added the text I wanted. When the DVD is put in the player, the menu comes up and to start the movie I just hit the "play" button.

If there are simple templates or more customizable ones or other workarounds, I'd love to know about it.

You did basically what the Director Zone Menu template "KISS" series does.

After you click on the above link, then select DVD Menus (5) on the Left.

Thanks, Carl. Is there no way to change the text of "My Videos"? Or must "My Videos" appear on every menu on PD? Many DVDs only have ONE video on them. My workaround is fine for me but it's a bit unfortunate that PD doesn't offer some templates that have what I and the OP were looking for in PD.

You can change the My Video and other text not in the template, but in the Menu preferences TAB of Create Disk.

You edit directly in the Preview Window.

I think this issue is solved by PowerDirector version 15.

Here you can de-select the main menu and have only an one page menu.
