move up to version 10?

I have purchased PD10 Deluxe, and I have the unopened box. But now that I've been using PD 8 for a couple of weeks, I wonder if there's any reason for me to upgrade to version 10. I won't be doing anything with 3D video, which apparently is the big addition to versions 9 and 10. At least for a while, I won't be burning any BD discs, which I think is another difference between V. 8 adn v. 10.

So - should a home user like me, relatively new to video editing (by the way, I love PD!) move from version 8 to version 10 - and if so, why?

I could return the unopened box, pay shipping and accept the restocking fee, and continue with v 8.

Thanks,

Depends on what you want to do and how good your computer is. I would download the trial and look first. There are things I can do in PD9-10 that you cannot in older versions. The unlimited pip tracks is the MAIN thing for me....

PD9 and 10 takes a lot of computer. Some new computers cannot run them.... __________________________________________

Here I have PD8 end PD10 in Severn 64 OS, so far without problems, but the PD8 is reliable, less mistakes etc ...
The PD10 has a lot more tools, but still has many flaws.
The PD10 is great for slideshow and video clips etc ...
In my opinion, if you can stay with 2.

PD8 and PD10 may both say Cyberlink Power Director, look the same, do the same.... but they ain't the same program..... PD10 takes more of everything to run. Has far more whistles and bells that most of us never use.... More HD end stuff.... and you really cannot compare them. PD8 will run on just about anything. PD10 WON'T run on most anything. __________________________________________

I will not get into heavy duty editing for a few weeks, but so far I really like the enhancements to SRVT. __________________________________

Hi Bill

I use both PD8 and PD10 on separate computers (as I don't believe PD8 & 10 can reside on the same system).

PD8 is very stable and robust on my system and in my humble opinion the best version to date and I've been a PD user since version 3. something

PD10 does 'have its moments' - mainly lag and stutter on certain clips, probably something to do with it being a 64 bit program.

As mention before it is a totally different program than PD8 and Bubba's comments are spot on.

If I had the boxed version of PD10 I would probably return it for a refund and continue using PD8
